I'm planning a trip to Orange County, CA this summer. We are staying near the beach for a week. I need to buy a new rash guard shirt for DS (age 2) and would love to buy one with long sleeves but am wondering if he would be too hot? Our gym has a kiddie pool that we spend a lot of time there in the summer, so he will be using it a lot. He is just so fair skinned and I want to keep those rays away! Beach mamas, suggestions?

We used a long-sleeved rash guard at the beach last summer and he never seemed uncomfortable.

Long sleeved rash guards were fine for our kids. They never complained about it being hot. I like the extra protection.

Long-sleeved! I wear mine all summer, as does LO, and neither of us gets too hot. In fact, I think being covered keeps us cooler. Make sure to stay hydrated and take frequent dips in the water if you'll be out for a long time.

I have always used long sleeves as well for extra sun protection. He has never seemed too warm

Thanks everyone! Long sleeves it is. I have a LS one myself but just bought last fall so I'll wear it for the first time this summer. Can't wait to not spend forever applying sunscreen

Long sleeves for the whole family! I love not having to worry so much about sunscreen application. I definitely feel like a huge dork in mine and was the only adult at the local pool last summer in one, but I didn't get a single sunburn and neither did my LO.

We got a long sleeved long pant rash guard for LO when we went to Mexico! He never seemed uncomfortable (although I got some side comments from family about how he was going to overheat, lol--which he was in no way close to doing!).
