What is the longest nursing session you've had? Today LO nursed for an hour and a half (multiple times). Not sure if we are having latching issues but that seemed excessive. I had to keep switching between boobs.

I think we've done about 1hr15min of active nursing. I have low supply so she's rarely full from just nursing so now I cut it off at 45 mins. She will butterfly suck for hours though - I've laid down with her with my boob in her mouth for hours before!

In the really bad sleep time, I would let her nurse sleep for full naps- she slept while comfort nursing for an hour and a half once. But it was mostly sleeping she would just wake up if I took the nipple out of her mouth.

DD was a SUPER slow nurser as a newborn. An hour was the length of an average nursing session...an hour and a half wasn't totally unusual. They do get more efficient with time

LO took forever to nurse (1.5 sessions each time) and we later learned it was because he wasn't transferring much. He had a lip & tongue tie that went undiagnosed for several weeks.

Hour and a half as a newborn. No match issues or low supply or anything. He would just kind of fall asleep and keep going and I didn't know I could stop him!

Hour around 9 months. 3-5 minutes on one boob was her usual nursing session from birth til 3 months.

1 hr 45 mins. An hour was normal at the beginning and he actually slowed to 1.5 hours. At 3 weeks, the LC weighed him before and after and found he was taking 6 oz. I felt so trapped to our glider. In hindsight, I suspect that is why he slept so many hours as a little baby. I think I would take hours in the chair again in exchange for a good night's sleep. But, in the moment I was losing my mind sitting for so long. He obviously got more efficient later, but even at a year he probably took 30 minutes.

Definitely over an hour. But that is because I have nodded off and he will comfort nurse forever if I let him.

My LO is a major comfort sucker so even now at fifteen months she'll quite happily suck 30-35 minutes or longer before bed!
The sucking action is a very comforting and soothing for your LO and if baby's latch is ok then s/he might just be working on establishing your milk supply.

In the cluster feeding days, probably from birth to about 4wks, she would feed on and off for about 3hrs each evening. I just kept swapping boobs and trying to get a break here and there. It was exhausting!
