Summer just started and the girls are already bored when we go out to play in the yard! The first few weeks it was warm out we would spend every waking moment out there. Apparently they are sick of what we have. I've tried looking on Pinterest for outdoor ideas but I've tried most of them. Any ideas to help spark their imagination for outdoor play?

Did you end up starting a small garden? A lot of our outdoor time is spent watering and weeding the garden. Or the girls are old enough now we can get some yard work done while they "help".
Then we will go on walks with their riding toys. Or do you have a inflatable pool?
There is a ton of water play hacks using pool noodles on Pinterest! Have you tried it?

@regberadaisy: we have a little garden, a flower one and produce one. We also have a pool. Sigh...we did go on a walk yesterday and they ran around a hill for like, an hour! So I know they don't require much.

LO's favorite things to do outside are taking walks in the neighborhood looking for puddles, cars, and other vehicles and playing with regular toys out on the deck. He will also play ball with me. We got sidewalk chalk and think he might like hopscotch but we haven't tried that yet.

Is there a splash pad near you that you could visit? Or a walking/hiking path? My LO likes a change of scenery.

I'm of the mindset that being bored can be a good thing. Let them figure out how to be creative and use their environment on their own. I would just use some phrases to spark creativity "What new way can we play today?" "Is there something you want to pretend to be or activity we can pretend to do." "What can we do with this stick?"

@whiskers: the "I'm bored" phrase drives me crazy! They have so much to work with and I know they have the imagination, they just have to use it!

@Truth Bombs: I think there is one but it's a good 30 minutes away...maybe a good weekend idea when I have DH to help
