DD came home today upset that someone in her grade made a TikTok of her revealing her crush. I knew this was coming but this is 3rd grade!

I downloaded the app and couldn't find anything so I told DD the kids were probably making it up. Unfortunately I found out after bedtime that the video is real. Another parent found the profile by asking a youngin for help. Her school name is in the profile name and there's a series of 'guess who in my school' videos. The video has the first letter of her name, her teacher's name, a cartoon gif of a redhead (like her) with an exaggerated butt twerking and 'annoying' written largely, along with 'likes Sam but says she doesn't'. The song is inappropriate and the actual video just points at the ceiling. I shouldn't have looked at the comments but I was relieved to see they all essentially said 3rd graders shouldn't be on TikTok.

I don't know what to say to DD. She was upset enough just thinking her (not?) crush was named. She'd be devastated to see the other images. I hope she doesn't come across the video. I'm almost certain this was made by the girl that has been making her life hell in person for the last few years. There was a video for that girl too but it was flattering and called her a 'hottie'. I'm now ready to label the behavior as bullying which I've been dragging my heels about.

Is this typical 3rd grade behavior now?
