So I had a very interesting conversation with several people about naked baby pictures.
I need to break this down a bit. – Updated this breakdown due to confusion of my first thread!
It is about giving and who it is okay to give it to.
Giving physical/printed naked baby pictures of your LO?

I'm pretty annoyed because I made a shutterfly private share site before DD1 was born. Before I remembered family had access, I uploaded all my hospital photos and one was a candid of DD in the warmer right after birth. I realized it the next day and deleted.
Months later was at ILs and looked at their photo album of Dd1. Guess what photo she took and printed? Like, why? I'm a little irritated about it still.

We don't take frontal nudity pictures (even when he was "new"). I have taken pictures of his adorable little booty and shared them with family and very close friends. I don't expect them to print them or anything, but I have texted them to my Mom.
Technically I said that butt nudity was okay to give to close friends and relatives. I then remembered that our photographer took pictures of my son and that included one of his bare booty. She's not a close friend or family member and (I would assume) has a copy. I did ask that she not post it on her website and/or facebook, though.

I chose not to have any photos taken with her naked butt during her newborn photos.
We toss a washcloth over her during bath photos.
There are a few that show more from her birth (of both of us
For me if I'm not going to do anything with a photo I don't usually take it. I would not want full frontals of myself in my baby book- so there is none in hers.

I think we only have a handful (<5 total) full frontal photos of both kids. Most of them were right after birth and they're on the warmer. I think one is in the bath, and one he was naked and covered in lotion (he got into it while I wasn't looking). I've shown those to close family and friends only, but I would never give them to people.
I think baby butts are adorable and whoever wants to see can see. I'm fine w/ people posting online, and I've posted one of DD from her 1st birthday and it's a profile/crawling butt shot.

Thats a big NO from me!
Babies take the cutest pictures on earth, nudes are not necessary. I'm certain friends and family do not need to be seeing the private parts of my child.
We do have some from the moments after birth, those are for her baby book only.

No nudity everrrr! Coming from Prudence McPrudesalot over here! I agree that they can be cute, but so are clothed kids. I just don't from a respect side of things (I am big on kids deserving their privacy, even from a young age). Also there are weirdos out there - I know we can't live scared of everything and everyone but I still lock my door at night and naked baby pics fall into the same 'basic safety' category for me. Again, I am Prudie at the best of times so this could just be me!

@Raindrop: I didnt see your other thread so I am not sure I understand all the freaking out over this, but I had a newborn shoot and some of the photos show his little bottom, and yes, they are framed in my house. So?

So I have a very early on bath photo of LO and I did a mass quick print from my phone without looking at the pictures really. My mother noticed the bath picture and thought it was cute but it shows everything! She wanted to give it to my grandmother in another country, so she can show it off to all our relatives there. I said no! She got really mad at me, and tried to take the picture when I wasn't looking. I got mad she tried to take the picture without my consent and I told DH about it and he said what's wrong with it... he's a baby.... everyone shows off nude pictures of their kids. I'm like no they don't! Hence the poll and asking all my friends about it. Haha.

@wrkbrk: I think for most people, the idea is that babies become kids become teenagers become adults, and most kids/teens/adults would prefer not to have their bare butt displayed anywhere without their consent.

@wrkbrk: Well there was confusion I wanted opinions about frontal nudity and a lot of people were answer what they would do with butt nudity http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/los-naked-baby-pictures which is why I created another thread. I personally think butt nudity is okay-ish (I still wouldn't share them online! Haha).
Also I get the feeling that it's older thinking that nude pictures is okay. Nude kids on bear skin rugs was a thing before right?

@Raindrop: Ha maybe! Could also be because we didnt give our photos to anyone nor are we really on social media. So they dont appear anywhere but on our laptops and in printed frames in our house! No frontal nudity photos even exist. MAYBE one from the hospital? But that is only on my laptop!

No frontal nudity to be shown to anyone. We have none of DD and the only one we have of DS is when he was on the scale after being born. Some of his newborn pictures showed his swollen scrotum and those were never shown as well. I agree baby butts are too cute but I don't think we have any of those either and if we did they could be shown then taken back.

Anyone who would be allowed to see her naked (so anyone who would change her diaper right now) I have no issue with showing pictures of her naked to. But I don't see any reason why they would need to keep them. I also rarely take frontal nude pictures. Basically just to document early baths, and we covered her up with a rag for most of those. Since who would see her naked will change as she gets older, that standard will pretty much work.

I would never post a naked photo of my child online. Butt or full frontal. That being said, I don't see how a photo of myself naked as a baby would make upset as an adult. I literally cannot imagine a single scenario (barring unspeakable things that do sadly sometimes happen) in which I would be upset about anyone seeing my naked baby pictures. I may feel differently if they were posted online but that wasn't an option then so I can't really say.
ETA: I just saw the story behind why you were asking....I wouldn't be okay with that either. It's not that I would feel that my privacy was violated or anything but I would think it's strange that a relative I barely know not only owns the picture but it's THE picture she's using to show all her friends and family.

I don't think we have any frontal nudity shots except from those taken immediately at birth.
I don't have any bum shots either.
My parents had a friend years ago that pulled out nude pictures of his kids to show off. That was 25+ years ago and they still talk about how it's weird to look at naked pictures of other people's children.
I want my girls to know that I respected their privacy and they don't have to worry about embarrassing images being out in the world.

I voted no on frontal (to show or give to anyone) and ok to give grandparents butt shots.
Funny....I made DH a book of him and I for our wedding. It was kind of "our story". So I asked his parents for a baby pic or two to include in the book. Well they sent me one of him in the bath when he was a baby (probably around 6 mo). I was like "come on I don't need to see that sh*t!" which is hilarious because obviously I see him naked all the time. its just weird to look at a naked frontal of him as a baby since his 'junk' is mostly sexual to me.

To be fair it is my grandmother and I have seen her about a handful of times in my life but I do know her... not well but she is still my grandmother (mom's mom) and she will be showing pictures to yup friends and family there.
BUT I was going to send it with 200 other printed pictures (she doesn't like online pictures which is why I printed a ton of pictures), the bath picture was one of 200 and so I was just going to not send it with those pictures but my mom thought it was just too cute not to send. I don't know I didn't feel right destroying the picture (superstitious), so currently it's hidden so that my mom couldn't put in the package we were sending to my grandmother.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only that feels weird about sending nude pictures to relatives. I would definitely show her over skype or if she was here in person but I wouldn't let her kept the picture at all.
My mother and aunts and basically the older generation think I'm being weird by not sending the picture. It's been kind of tough to fight off but I'm putting my foot down.

I guess I am in the minority that I don't really have any issue with sharing naked baby pictures but I wouldn't put them online (frontal or butt).

I don't have any issues worth close friends or family seeing nude pictures in passing, like as part of a bunch of other pictures. But not as a thing in itself, and never a physical copy to keep. Just no.

Half of our newborn photo shoot photos are with naked bum and I have no issue with anyone in the world seeing them and I can't imagine him being embarrassed as an adult of a one week old naked bum. Full frontal I would ahow someone if they see him naked anyway like a grandparent. But I wouldn't give anyone a picture like that. In fact I wouldn't even save or print a naked photo. I'd crop it first.

I didn't see the original thread so I don't know what age we're talking about and also I assume you're talking about bottom not top? I don't really ever aim to take photos (at any age) of LO completely naked from the front, but sometimes if she is being funny in the bath or after I'll take short videos of her running around naked and text them to my mom. I wouldn't put them on fb or anything but I would probably text them to a close friend.
But nudity I'm going to say okay for fb and close friends/fam if the kid is under 2 or so. After that feels like they should have some bottoms on.

I am also curious to know if this frontal nudity talk involves the top half. Mostly because I would never share frontal nudity bottom half, I think!

@Raindrop: definitely stay firm on that. Let's say the pictures don't reach your grandma- mail gets lost- and now your naked baby is in the hands of a total stranger.
I get that kids don't get much say over what happens to them, but an adult would likely not want to naked photos of them floating around. Babies & kids deserve the same respect.
This thread makes me worried my mom will take naked pics of my baby b/c she's old school.

I don't do frontal nudity and I think we have some butt nudity somewhere but not buttcrack - I guess its like artful hip nudity? I don't really do that many printed photos of DS however.
