It isn't uncommon around that age. They can start to see farther and focus more so they get very distracted by everything possible. Around then is when I started wearing a nursing necklace to keep my son focused toward the breast. Also, try nursing in quiet, dark/dim locations with absolutely no distractions and see if that helps.

I went through this as well, and it drove me crazy. They are now just more aware of their surroundings. What i did was feed her as soon as she woke up from her nap (in a dim room) because she was still a bit sleepy and less distracted. Unfortunately, it doesn't get better. I'm thinking of getting one of those nursing necklaces to help focus her attention on one thing.

This happened JUST before DS got his first tooth. I was convinced he was going to get dehydrated and I'd need to bring him to the hospital while I was on vacation. Once his tooth broke through the gums he went back to normal

My 13 month old still does this. She has a week where she will eat until she's blue in the face, and then other weeks where she barely wants anything. Yesterday it was fruit, and fruit only. Your baby won't starve - they'll eat what they need.

It's normal. Our appetites aren't the same every day, and we get distracted and put off meals, and so do our babies. Your LO is starting to notice the world more and isn't so focused on eating. Also, babies start to nurse more efficiently and quickly as they get older--no more marathon nursing sessions like when they were brand new!
