What do you like on your macaroni? We're doing a macaroni bar for LO2's first birthday in a couple weeks. We're going to make a bunch of creamy macaroni and cheese and have toppings out. So far I'm thinking bacon, rotel/salsa, broccoli, peas, fresh tomatoes, extra cheese, croutons, and bread crumbs. Any other easy ideas?

Yum! I might be an adult but mac and cheese is still just about my favorite food
Sriracha or Franks Red Hot, or other hot sauce!
Maybe less easy, but carmelized onions and/or cauliflower? or sauteed jalapenos?

Not easy per say but how about some cut up chicken? I love it with broccoli and chicken - yum!!

This is going to sound weird, but trust me, it's good....my husband makes a regional mac and cheese and in it, it has bacon, caramelized onions and potato cubes. It's always served with a side of applesauce.
So I'd put out some applesauce, in addition to what you have already listed. The juxtaposition of salt and sweet is really something.
Also, maybe some roasted grape tomatoes.

We did a macaroni and cheese bar for LO’s 2nd birthday and it was a huge hit!! For toppings we had: bacon, peas, broccoli, French fried onions, roasted red peppers, cubed up ham……maybe a few others I can’t remember?!

Yum!To your existing list, I would add Sun dried tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Are you planning on making Mac & cheese two ways? Like one cheddar based and the other Alfredo based?

This is an amazing idea! I say Sautéed mushrooms in truffle oil/truffle butter - especially if you do a white-sauce macaroni!
