so this is probably TMI but I had to laugh - I'm mid-cycle and at that prime point before the tww...last night I stayed up late waiting for DH to get home for some BD time, he was tired and said "what do you think I am? a machine??" I couldn't help but laugh because I've been all over him giving it up more than usual and I think he's really surprised, even though we agreed to ttc!

@babycanuck: Bahahahaha! Love it! I have been the same way... I don't have the best "drive", if you will, and I've been putting out like crazy. I think he knows he's a piece of meat right now.

I think I'll join, if it's not too late!
I think I'll POAS 3/14.
It's our first cycle off birth control so I don't have great expectations. Although, I think I'm 7DPO and have had really tender breasts and I've never had that before. I don't know if it's a result of being off birth control for the first time in 11 years or something far greater!

@Ash: @babycanuck: Hahaha I'm right there with you both!! I think DH is a bit surprised... He said he wouldn't mind if we had to keep trying for a few months. I just rolled my eyes
@chibee: Yayy!! Glad you get to POAS this month!

I'm going to use another OPK tonight to see what it says... DH is still sick. He wants to BD tonight regardless. I have mixed feelings. I believe that God has a plan for things but at the same time I think we have some control over our own destiny... If my OPK is right and I ovulate today/tomorrow, I would have essentially a Thanksgiving due date. The Saturday before my cousin is getting married in AZ (cross country). I worry that I'll get a BFP now and my family will be out of town when I go into labor. I would live the LO tax deduction this year but I'd also like to give birth early next year so that I can earn a high bonus for this year. I don't know... This is all such silly reasons to NOT BD though. At the end of the day, at least I know I ovulated. Will have to see what happens tonight...

@Pirouette: I didn't/don't have any O symptoms really. Have noticed varying CM over the past couple weeks though. I'm afraid to admit this but I started OPKs around CD 24 or so? Since my first cycle post BC was 40 days, I guessed a normal 12-16 LP. I was doing the OPKs daily until this past weekend - CD 45 or something? So for a good 20 days. They were just the cheapo Wondfo strips. This weekend DH said to just gamble and do them EOD which is what I've been doing. I'll try another tonight though. ETA: I just looked at my chart, I've been doing OPK since CD19 - holy cow! LOL.
bananas / 9229 posts
@Ash: Today is CD 49 - no joke!
@walnutems: If you have post-BC questions, a bunch of us are in that boat! I'm one of them
@Beetones: Not too much to ask at all! That's what this place is for
Here's my chart: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/41e301 I just started temping and hadn't really been tracking CM before now. Just BD and OPK for the most part. We've tried to stick with EOD or every 3rd day. There's a week or so with no BD because we were both sick.
clementine / 770 posts
@LindsayInNYC: My OB/GYN said the sperm can live up to 5 days as long as the environment is friendly, and the egg can live up to 24, maybe 48 hrs after being released. i think you're doing great so far, don't stress. Your BFP is bound to happen.
bananas / 9229 posts
@Beetones: But, see my comment/post above... I want a BFP asap, obviously, but based on this O date, it's not an ideal due date. I feel like I'm being dumb thinking that though...
cherry / 131 posts
@walnutems: Welcome! For the first little while off BCP, anything is fair game so there's not much sense in symptom-spotting, even though I know we can't help ourselves.
I was on the pill for 12.5 years, and in the weeks after I stopped I got sore nipples (first time in my life), nausea and cramping off and on. The symptoms all ended when I had an **extremely** light and short period right on schedule as if I were still on the pill. I think it was all just hormones regulating.
I'm now on CD 19 with no symptoms of any kind, no positive OPK (I've been testing every day around 6 p.m. since CD9 just in case), and nothing notable in my BBT. So far.
We're here for you when you get impatient, frustrated, or KU!

@Lately: good to know! I haven't been thinking about it too much. It was weird having the sensitivity like that, I've never had it before. It's been kinda good for me mentally, I know that DH and I are ready but I kinda keep having doubts (mostly just being scared of the unknown), but even just having differences in my body has made me realize 100% if we do get pregnant how stoked I'll be...so that's at least one positive if it is just post-bc symptoms!
@LindsayInNYC: Thank you!! I'm sure I'll have plenty!
bananas / 9229 posts
@walnutems: Echoing what @Lately said! My first cycle post-BC (after 12 years on it) was 40 days. My current cycle (2nd post BC) is now 49 days. I've been doing OPKs since CD19 (I kid you not!) and just now got a positive. I thought I noticed some symptoms last cycle but haven't noticed much this cycle aside from CM.

@LindsayInNYC: Just want you to know that I'm still holdin' out for you long-cycle-buddy!!!
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
@LindsayInNYC: This is why I'm charting right now. I just started a job and I'd really like to be here a year or close to a year before I have another baby. I don't think it's a bad thing to hold off on BD if the timing wouldn't be right.
bananas / 9229 posts
@littlek: Thing is, the timing isn't "right" for selfish reasons... Our firm gives decent bonuses based on how much you bill. I don't want to kill myself to make them only to end up out on maternity leave for the last month of the year and not receive the bonus. Also, my cousins wedding is part of it. I would love to go and if we waited till next cycle, I could theoretically go if I get a BFP next cycle. But I'd love the tax break this year too... It's literally a matter of months we're talking. But if every cycle ends up being this long, I could waste precious time too.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LindsayInNYC: ha, that's a lot of OPKs! i got a + OPK on CD16, and then basically stopped them. but now i'm kicking myself because i have no idea if i O'd. next cycle i'll definitely do them more consistently. and i totally understand the timing, especially as a fellow esq!
@walnutems: welcome! I have never in my life had tender breasts, and holy crap, this am i couldn't even put on a sports bra, let alone trying to run...ouch! haha, it's my second month off bcp, and i must say it's a bit of a trip...i hope things settle down after a few months for all of us
bananas / 9229 posts
@Pirouette: Tell me about it! I'm an expert POASer, LOL! I've been with my current firm for just over a year now. They give a nice bonus for each extra 100 hours billed over the requirement. Plus a "march madness" one for March through June. I'm trying to make the march madness one but it also requires me to make the yearly requirement. If I'm out for a month for maternity leave, that won't happen. So I don't want to kill myself over this for nothing. But if it takes us a while to conceive, I know I'll kick myself for not trying this month/cycle...
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@LindsayInNYC: I totally get that. but i also get not wanting to regret taking time off, especially when it's not necessary even just a month, more like a month and a half or 2! i think i'd just keep working hard, trying for the bonus, and then see what happens...at least you will know soon if this is an issue, and if it is, you can enjoy easing up on the billing a little this year
not that i'm saying you should slack at your job, haha. there are some years that i just value leaving a little early and not driving myself crazy over trying to make a bonus. if it's a make or break bonus for you, though, just have faith in the system...one cycle wasted is not the end of the world
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@LindsayInNYC: just wanted to jump in and say congrats on a positive OPK. Hopefully the end of your long cycle is in sight. Jut a thought too, unfortunately even if you BD this cycle it doesn't mean a BFP. It is in Gods hands/fate even at tht point (it sounds like you believe this too). So maybe try this cycle, don't feel like you are missing out and if it happens its meant to be and the rest (job/travel) will work itself out.
bananas / 9229 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Thanks! I thought this was going to be the neverending cycle... I agree, there's no guarantee of a BFP this cycle, next cycle, anything. I just wonder if I can help control my destiny to some extent?
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@LindsayInNYC: I think obviously through OPK and timing you are doing a great job at giving it your best shot, but you still never know, there are no guarantees. I guess what I'm trying to say is GO FOR IT!!!!!
honeydew / 7909 posts
No go on the progesterone test. I'm a little bummed. The nurse said nobody in the office tests it unless it's an iui patient. So I asked if they would check it once I get pregnant and she said no again. So then I asked if they would check my betas once I get a positive test. She said to call when I do and I can sit down with my midwife then. Funny part of the conversation: my midwife says if I'm getting positive opks that I am ovulating. She needs to join the hb boards or use Google to learn that's not true.
staying hopeful this is our month.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@Ash: Wow. If it were me, given that conversation, I'd totally switch providers. I know midwives aren't always very keen on testing, and you might be better off to switch to an OB or RE just until you get a BFP so they can run those tests and then you can go back to the midwife for the rest of your pregnancy.
persimmon / 1491 posts
@Ash: i feel you!!! that was the same reaction my Dr. had..."if you are getting a positive OPK than you are ovulating", i swear some Dr.'s just dont care...
@marionberry: do you need a recommendation to go to an RE? I have Kaiser so i am not sure how that would work...
bananas / 9229 posts
@Ash: That's frustrating. Hope you find better answers elsewhere (anywhere!).
honeydew / 7909 posts
@marionberry: the practice I go to is 2 midwives and 5 doctors and she said even the docs don't test. I'm going to call the other ob group in town and see about switching. I'm afraid a RE wouldn't be covered by our insurance.
@MrsCastro: that's how I felt. I didn't say it but wanted to ask if they even care about someone being able to sustain a pregnancy. Surely doesn't seem like it.
