@Sugar.Biscuit: Haha, only with OPKs! I'm in the middle of a long cycle and not sure if I'm going to ovulate late or what. I wanted to give up on the OPKs but DH said to continue. They were gifted from a fellow HelloBee'r so we'll see!

question - stupid - sorry...does anyone feel nervous at all posting if they've just gotten a BFP or do you feel comfortable with it because (knock on wood) there is a support system here?

  8. littlek

    GOLD / squash / 13576 posts

@babycanuck: I think there is a great support system here and I would definitely feel comfortable posting a BFP early.

  9. babycanuck

    pomegranate / 3105 posts

Ok I was curious how other people felt as I'm so new to the site. Great feedback from everyone so far with all of the posts I've read!

  10. Turd Ferguson

    pomegranate / 3160 posts

@babycanuck: Totally not sure if you meant posting early as in being a newer poster, or early as in an early BFP. I wouldn't worry at alllll if you're a new poster and throw up a BFP (well, if it was like, your first post ever and you like, didn't ever say anything else again it might be kinda odd, but that's totes not you at all, so just ignore that)!!! If you were talking about posting an early BFP, I'm terrified right now as I type this...but again, (gawdforbid) if anything happened, I know everyone here would be an awesome support system.

    So, regardless, don't hold back!

@SweetMamaM: I really think you should insist your doctor give you a blood test to see if you ovulated, and if not an rx for provera. If you don't ovulate, you will not get a period. So waiting around for it is going to take forever. When you're TTC, it's not fair to make you wait 100+ days until your next cycle.

  12. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@MrsCB: one of the downfalls of a public health system is not always being able to get what you want. I only have another week to go before I have another missed period and then the doctor will run the tests. It is annoying, but not much I can do. Pretty complex to change doctors over here and no guarantee the new one would do anything different.

  13. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@SweetMamaM: Ah, I misunderstood how long you were going to have to wait. I thought you were going to have to wait indefinitely until your next cycle started. Is it possible you have PCOS? I had the exact same problem of periods not showing up and thinking I was going to be one of those few people who don't have hcg show up on a test. It turned out I had PCOS instead :-(.

  14. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@MrsCB: I have PCOS but the issue at hand is that the spotting has never (in my nine years of diagnosis) been an issue and the timing was suspicious of implantation. On top of that, all my other indicators seemed to be on track (insulin levels being managed via paleo, vitamin d levels good) which led the doctor to be suspicious as to whether it was a pregnancy that was just not producing quantifiable levels of hcg yet. I haven't been POASing religiously since then because tests are too expensive over here. So playing the waiting game over here... On the upside, with my breasts being fuller than usual I have an amazing looking rack right now...
Trying to look for positives lol.

@babycanuck: dont be nervous. Many woman on here have posted on here about their early bfp. I think its a great place to help share your excitement, cinserns & feelings about the process where irl it might be harder to share with others. I would prefer posting about it here rather then sharing the news with others irl. Just encase something did happen I know that many woman have been through simular experiences.

@Beetones: early scorer! haha love it!

@babycanuck: definitely not! in fact, i think i'm WAY more comfortable posting here because there are so many women who have been through it, and understand that a BFP is not an absolute sign that you'll be delivering a healthy baby in 9 months. whereas telling my family and friends will be something i'll think long and hard about, because they will have different expectations, if that makes any sense.

    @Sugar.Biscuit: this!

@fussygal: I started taking progesterone on cd 17 and increased metformin @ the same time. Because we bd late and I started this mid cycle post O Im not holding my breath. Ive been cheating on my poas date and got a bfn this am. af is due tomorrow but I should still be able to squeeze in another cycle before the end of march so well see how well it works

  25. jenakris

Well.. I was meant to poas on March 2nd, but AF decided to come early, so I'm not going to get the chance. I'm out this month. I don't actually know how I feel about it yet. This was our first month trying, and I knew not to be optimistic, but you still get your hopes up. So, back to square one.

I think this coming month I'm going to use opk's, because even with temping (I only started halfway through my cycle) I don't really know when I ovulated.

Question to all of you though, how soon is too soon to start trying other things.. like preseed or changing my diet or BDing every day in the fertile window instead of every other day.. I feel like when I started temping, I started stressing out (read: obsessing) more, which couldn't have helped. I want to give us a good chance, but I don't want to overwhelm myself with trying so hard that it negates our efforts.

So, do we just "see what happens" since it will only be cycle #2, or should I start looking into other ways to boost our chances?

@jenakris: I'm sorry you are out. I think what you do depends on how quickly you want to get pregnant and how much it stresses you out. Taking a prenatal and eating better are two simple things you can do that are good for you and shouldn't cause too much stress. I liked the OPK's better than temping and they worked for me.

    apple seed / 3 posts

@Beetones: Oh good point! I just looked at my little tracker app, and it's predicting AF to show on March 30th... put me back on the list! BTW, how do you all determine the day you're going to test? Is it the day of your period or do some of you test sooner?

  30. Apex

    clementine / 770 posts

@jenakris: Updated the list with you for the 30th. To answer your question, the POAS date is uaually just an estimate of 14-15DPO for me. Sometimes i test earlier, and sometimes i test later...

  31. Ash

    honeydew / 7909 posts

@jenakris: I always make my test date the day AF is due or a day later. I can't test early!!
