@LindsayInNYC: Ugh, buzz kill Did you at least see a positive on an OPK last cycle? I started charting in the middle of my first cycle and am first experimenting with OPKs, so I have no idea what my body is actually up to.

At least I'm now consistently seeing some pink in the test area on the OPK. I tried a couple in the first cycle and got no second line at all.

  4. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Lately: I've been using OPK since day 20 or so (so yeah, about 3 weeks now, every single day...) and there's almost always a second line but it's faint. So no positive, at least not that I've been able to see. I just started charting to see if that shows something... Are you just coming off BC?

  5. Lately

    cherry / 131 posts

@LindsayInNYC: Yes, just came off BCP mid-January after 12.5 years uninterrupted. I have vague memories of being fairly regular way back when...

  6. abbydabbydoodlebug

    nectarine / 2636 posts

Well, AF decided to show up earlier than she should, so count me out.

I might be able to poas on the 31st I think.

  7. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Lately: Hopefully your experience will be better than mine then, LOL. I was on BC for 12 years uninterrupted too. Totally regular before then - aka throughout my teens. I thought I'd go back to regular pretty quickly. Especially since I would break through bleed/spot if I took BC for too long without a period. Well, first cycle off it was 40 days. This is second cycle and no AF in sight. Or symptoms of anything else. =/

@Lately: i'm in my 2nd month off bcp too! and my experience with OPKs has been pretty good so far, although my line tends to fluctuate quite a bit before it finally gets +...which makes timing it a little annoying. but i almost always have some line. the fluctuations were worse the first month though (i had a few almost + a week before i O'd), so i'm hoping that'll level out soon.

    @abbydabbydoodlebug: sorry about AF

  12. Lately

    cherry / 131 posts

@Pirouette: I've read that not everyone gets an actual progression; my understanding is that it's normal for the line to fade in and out pretty randomly when you're not about to O.

Not ever seeing any line at all in my first month was kind of discouraging, though. It kind of feels like when you wave your hands under an automatic faucet in a public bathroom and can't for the life of you get it to turn on even though nobody else seems to have the same problem. (Yes, this happens to me often.)

  13. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@Lately: Hahaha I love your analogy!! Opks sure do cause stress! It's funny, because I do get a fade in, it just seems like sometimes I get two...maybe in a few months I'll get the hang of it, or better yet, maybe I won't have to

Wishing you all a happy BFP filled month! Hope to join you soon!

Still bfn this am but no af. I'm not sure I feel her calling anytime soon...other than being really bloated!
Anyone have experience taking progesterone caps cd15-25. I took my last progesterone pill last night cd25 & I ovulation early so af is due now. Suppose it could it take a few days before I get my period yet?

  20. chibee

    pear / 1974 posts

@Sugar.Biscuit: random question - do you have any side effects from the progesterone pills??

  21. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

This might sound silly but... As much as I want a BFP now, part of me doesn't. My cousin is getting married on November 23 in Arizona. A BFP last month would've might I had a chance of going with a LO, next month means I'll have a chance of going pregnant. But a BFP this cycle and it could throw a lot of things off... My parents and sister would be going to the wedding which would be right around a due date too. Any one else ever had these thoughts?

  22. Apex

    clementine / 770 posts

@LindsayInNYC: YEP, i know exactly what you mean. My sister is getting married in London this December, My DH's best friend is getting married in ATL in November, i'm just trying to not think about those and prioritize my needs above others. Right now all i want is my BFP, and i don't want to put that on the shelf because of other social events. I hope that doesn't sound selfish, but to be honest, i don't care. The heart wants what the heart wants....

  23. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@Beetones: Agreed. At first, I thought about taking off whichever month would result in a November due date. But then DH, like you, said we can't change plans around things like that. Given that I'm in the middle of my second cycle, on CD43 and don't know if/when I'm even ovulating (damn BC), I agree - I can't take time off right now. I'll be bummed if March isn't my month but I don't mind a Christmas baby. Heck, after February of next year would give me additional paid maternity time! Trying to be optimistic either way

  24. Sugar.Biscuit

    nectarine / 2063 posts

@chibee: Not really, less acne maybe? This was my first cycle with them. Apparently though it doesn't make me cramp before AF comes cause right after I wrote that post the b showed up. Figures, every time we go out to eat & it takes forever for our food it usually shows up when I decide to go to the bathroom. AF might as well do the same.

I have noticed less of an appetite. If I could only get my brain to agree with my stomach this could be beneficial lol.

  25. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

POAS on a stick today -still bfn. I didn't really expect anything different. Broke the stick though, it says neg results should fade after 10 mins and mine is still glaringly there. *shrug* AF has until Sunday to get here and then I'm taking my weird full-boobed, bloated body to the doctors and demanding a blood test.

@Beetones: thanks honey, I probably won't POAS until next Saturday - tests are SO expensive here. We don't have lovely Dollar Store tests like you guys - are they seriously like $1?

  29. Apex

    clementine / 770 posts

@SweetMamaM: Actually they are like 99cents (lol), Yes. But to be honest, i'm not so sure about how sensitive they are, but i buy them anyways.

You can order them online too:

@SweetMamaM: what about Wondfos on Amazon? $8.15 for a 25 pack - comes out to about $0.33 each? Even with shipping it might still be a bargain? And they are SUPER sensitive.

@Sugar.Biscuit: thanks! I'm trying to self-diagnose my weird cycles, just going through all different scenarios!

I know I'm new here, but would love to be a part of this! I went of the pill January 26 after roughly 10 years of being on it. I've been charting and am almost certain I ovulated February 21, so now I'm just waiting it out. In all honesty, I'm not expecting a BFP this month (just a gut feeling) but it would be a welcome surprise. Anyway, I'm planning to POAS on March 5. I'm still trying to understand charting so I'm not sure if that is the ideal date, but what the heck! I'm doing it anyway! For now, I'm sending everyone my best BFP wishes

@chibee: if you google emphysema by the time your done reading it you will be short of breath

I wrote a long list of S&S and gave it to my Dr. after a year of her not listening or run tests I found a different Dr. and had answers with in 5 hours.
