Looking for a cool place set or accessories to go with matchbox cars but preferably not one that’s a big hunk of plastic. My two-year-old is in love with cars and trucks right now. Anyone have something like this that your kids play with?

We just got the Melissa and Doug parking garage for my 20 month old for Christmas - it's a big hunk of wood, does that make it better? We got the giant one but there's also a smaller one that has a little "car wash", a gas pump, and two little levels.

@travellingbee: its all plastic
That said... you would need a track set but my DS loves the booster

This looks small and fun

For a 2 year old, I'd stick to something basic, I wouldn't go full on Hot Wheels track for a while.
I'd get a storage hauler truck, and maybe a garage of some sort that can accommodate the cars.

@erinbaderin: yes a hunk of wood is much better can you use match box cars with it?

I second the wood parking garage suggestion. The one we have is by Plan Toys and my now 5 year old got it when he was two and probably has played with it almost every day since. It works well with Hot Wheels but he also uses the larger die cast cars on it, too.

@travellingbee: I hope so! The description says that it’s “designed for use with most die-cast vehicles”. It’s this one: http://www.melissaanddoug.com/wooden-parking-garage/4595.html

I just purchased a train garage from Brio for my LOs matchbox cars. The reviews say it works for both and I like that eventually when she has a train set, it will work for that also.

@travellingbee: I got this for my son when he was around 2. It's plastic but doesnt take up a lot of space! https://m.toysrus.com/product?productId=53080076
