We use Notabli...it's available in the iPhone app store. I asked my parents to download the app too, so I can share my updates with them. It's been great so far.
It allows you to record different types of events - milestones, funny quotes, pictures, etc.

@808love: that's kind of what I'm doing right now, but it's in my general diary so little things tends to get lost. I like your idea of a single dedicated note.

@MoonMoon: yes. I just used it in the meantime until I found something better but it is so easy so I think I will stick with it. This way, not only is it easy it won't eat space on my phone and gets backed up. I use it all the time.
