Tonight C insisted that only I change her poopy diaper. She turned to DH and said, no daddy, you stay here!

I think that one was mean to both of us.

@sorrycharlie: Yikes, I am not looking forward to this stage. DD is getting so feisty but not saying mean things yet. I am sure it's coming though, she mimicks other kids a lot. Some are so mean and bratty in our playgroup but the parents are so calm and nice. I think it's a phase that all kids go through.

She jabbed me and said "You are poo poo" in a singsongy voice (thanks daycare). She also frequently tells DH to go away, or that she wants mommy to change her/dress her, etc.

How'd I get a threenager at 23 months?!

We get "go away mama!" and "go away dada!" whenever she's upset with one of us.

We have some spirited little girls

I hear these things pretty regularly:

"You're NOT MY BEST FRIEND ANYMORE"
"get outta here, I don't' want you in here"
"I don't like you I like daddy"
"daddy is so stupid" and I responded "we do not call people names or say that word, it is not nice" and she goes "fine, daddy is a butt toot face" yepppp that's better.

And 2 days ago for the first time and it stung and brought tears to my eyes:
"I don't love you"

And I made her know that we NEVER say that and she started to cry....

DD just turned 3 and has her moments. She's been bullying DH off of his desk and chair saying it's hers. She's learnt the word "dumb" in daycare and called him dumb He says that kids say it to mean "mean" - as in, "You're mean". But I'm not buying it.

@LuLu Mom: When I lectured DD about not saying her dad is dumb, she looked at me with big alligator tears and started sobbing and then stomped inside her room.

@MamaBehr: hahaha oh my. That made me giggle. Kids really do say the darndest things.

L can definitely be a meanie. He constantly tells DH to "go away daddy". DH gets really frustrated by it. I feel so bad for him!

Oh man, it starts so young! I've heard some of the 3 year old girls at daycare talk to one another and they say things like "NO you can't sit here, go over there!" Makes me sad

Usually J is very sweet, but lately she has started saying, "I don't like how you're talking to me," and "you are making me sad" whenever I sound frustrated with her or am telling her something she doesn't want to hear (like "you aren't listening to mommy, I need you to listen). It's so annoying!

This was more funny than mean but today DD said to me in the car while I was singing along to something on the radio, "No singing mommy, bad singing!" Hahaha

@Charm54: my nephew was exactly the same when I came to visit with C. He got so upset anytime my sister held the baby and would try to pry her arms off and tell, No you're MY mommy. She's mommy hold her!

They now get along so so well and just really really love each other and he watches out for her (like if she goes near the steps he stops her and tells her it's not safe).

@MamaBehr: I once told my mom "I feel like I live in the house of clean!" This is after she asked me to clean my horrifically messy room. She still laughs about it.

LO will be 15 months this week. Tonight I asked him if he wanted to give Daddy a kiss goodnight. He kissed DH on the cheek. I asked if he would give me a kiss and he shook his head no. Then when I lifted him into his crib he tried to bite my shoulder! It made me a little sad!

My three year old picked up the phrase "well, good luck with THAT!" From a book. Says it in context with perfect timing and inflection. I almost snorted my coffee the first time I heard her say it - equal parts horrifying and hilarious!

When told a friend's mom was having a baby boy, she said "I don't really like boy babies. nope!" And walked away....then came back to ask if I thought her little sister liked boy babies. Funnily enough a few days before she had seen some teens out our window going door to door selling something and said she liked boys.

She's also told me she doesn't like me a few times, and breaks down sobbing "I miss Daddy" when I try to get her to do things she doesn't want to do (like eat the PBJ she just asked me to make, or put away a toy before doing an art project). Sigh.
