DD is 3 months and we are going to need to move out of the RNP and miracle blanket soon. Thoughts? She STTN so I'd like to help her keep doing it. With DD IT didn't really matter when we stopped swaddling because his sleep was always crap. Move to crib then stop swaddling, right? Swap swaddle for a Merlin or a Zipadee or just a sleepsack and cross my fingers?

I have a bad sleeper with pretty strong reflex, so for us merlin really saved us from like 3+ months and she wore that thing till like 7+ months!
ETA: we recently did away with the merlin and just went to nothing since it's not cold.

We ran into this problem with T and he was still waking up a lot in his zippy, so we moved him to the merlin, where he's having better nights. So we're doing merlin-->zipadee-->sleep sack.

T rolled in her Merlin after 3 days at 4 mo. Then I did a zipadee for a week now just PJs. We have a sleep sack but have not tried it.

Zipadee lasted us a long time, and since she could safely roll/crawl/stand in it, we loved it!

We used the Merlin at 3 months and it was an amazing miracle worker with DS but he started rolling in it within a month or two so we had to stop using it. Next time around, I think I'd try the Zipadee since it can be used longer. And if that doesn't work try the Merlin. I don't regret the Merlin because it was a lifesaver but wish we could have used it longer!

I'd move to the crib in the miracle blanket and then change to the Merlin suit. We used it from 3.5m when my son rolled over while swaddled until he was 6-7 months and started rolling over in the Merlin suit. From there we used sleep sacks.

@MrsSRS: My baby is 3 months this week and I hadn't thought about the fact it would be time to move on from the miracle blanket soon! I just saw on their website they recommend stopping at around 14 weeks (she is 13 weeks). She hasn't started to roll over yet which is why I wasn't concerned. Is that why you are stopping or is there another reason? I guess I need to come up with a transition plan myself!

@ldh112: well, I think she will roll soon, but mostly because she's probably close to 16 pounds and she's just plain outgrowing it!

@MrsSRS: Ha! My daughter is almost 12 lbs and very long - she always kicks her feet out. I was starting to think she was too big for it length-wise myself!

We just shifted DD from sleeping swaddled to just sleeping in a footed sleeper (3.5 months). It's gone great!
ETA: she started rolling back to belly less than a week after making the transition.

We used the Merlin first and it worked great, that was when she dropped her last motn feeding. Even though she was rolling when we transitioned into it, it was a few months before she could roll in the Merlin. Now we use the zipadee and we're happy with it.

She was only in that about a month before she learned to roll in it so then we just moved her to a sleep sack but by then she was 6mo and her sleep was all around shitty so we sleep trained.

Personally I would give it a go in a sleep sack or just Jammie's. We ditched the swaddle at 3 months and transitioned to crib with just jammies at 3.5 months and haven't had much in the way of wake ups. I think it's worth seeing if your LO really needs anything before buying a bunch of stuff. Our LO could roll easily by 3-3.5 months so most of these things weren't useful.
