I just saw that Minions is now available on Netflix and it's supposed good for kids ages 2-4. Xander's never watched any of the Despicable Me movies, but I was thinking he might enjoy Minions. Do you need to see any of the other movies to enjoy Minions? Or can it be watched on it's own?

its kind of a prequel to the despicable me movies in that at the very end Gru shows up
Edit to add: my daughter is 2 1/2 and loves all three movies. I think she likes the original because of the 3 little girls

I haven't shown it yet to my 2.5 year old. My husband and I saw it last summer and I remember thinking that parts might be scary for a 2 year old. The villains are scary in my opinion.

@Adira: I think after the original they realized the minions kinda stole the show and the 2nd movie really focuses on them and then the minions movies is about how they came to be

They're too young to get the story tie in anyway. But it's definitely age appropriate. DD1 finds it hilarious!

@Adira: maybe I'm being too cautious. I'm sure my DS would get a kick out of the minions and their silliness! If it gets scary, turning it off always works!

My 3.5 year old loved watching it last weekend. We've never seen any of the other Minion related films and it was an easy watch for all.

@Alba4: it definitely would've been too scary for DD1 at 2.5. She was scared of Frozen up till about 9 months ago! But Xander is almost 4.

Minions is the only move C has watched (and even that took two sittings). She didn't like frozen or any other Disney movie we have shown her. But she did like minions enough and now lives to spot them (some bananas had minion stickers on them and there is a Red Boxat the grocery store that has the cover displayed).

My son loves the movies. We saw the minions movie first. He goes around making minion impersonations all day long. lol It's kind of annoying.

Update: Minions was a huge hit! We've watched it at least 3 times since this weekend.
