Just curious - did you have a miscarriage when TTC #2 (or subsequent babies)? I had a CP this past cycle (cycle 6 of TTC#2), and am floored by how many people I know who have had miscarriages between #1 and #2. In all seriousness, at least 80% of my friends with two or more kids suffered a miscarriage between successful pregnancies. I wonder if there is something to this (bodies not being completely ready to carry another pregnancy) or if it's just a (sad) coincidence among people I know.

My sister and SIL both had MCs after their second children, but their first two (and then the MCs) were all pretty close together.

I did, and I know 4 other woman who I am very close with who also had at least one between #1 and #2.

I had 2 m/cs after my first pregnancy; we TTC for #2 when LO was 15/16 months old.

I'm still on baby #1, but a close friend recently told me about several of her close friends (more than half!) who had m/cs in between kids. I can count at least 4, 2 of which had 2 losses. I think its more common than we all think.

This is really interesting - and is confirming my real life anecdotal evidence.
In some ways, my CP was easier because I was almost expecting it (because I know so many people who went through a MC after baby #1).

@septca: In a way, I felt very similar about my MC (even though I didn't already have children).
From the moment the stick turned pink I was freaked out and feared the worst. I was surprised that DH was the excited one and I was the overly worried one because normally it'd be the other way around.
I'm not sure why...but it's like somehow I knew something wasn't right.

I hope not. I had a mc before #1 and I really don't want to go through that again when ttc #2. But I find myself almost assuming it will happen when trying to figure out a time line for #2.

I had one before #1 and actually most ppl I know had them before #1 - most of my friends. But I didn't know in until I came out of the closet. And I really hope not Bc I feel like I have paid my dues already.

I had two after my first successful pregnancy. It was hard because I knew my body could carry a child, but you hear all about how pregnancy can "reset" things and change balances.

I had one after #1 but most people I know IRL have also had them before #1. I can;t think of any that have had them between 1 and 2...but most of my friends are just starting TTC #2 or are already pregnant.

I don't know anyone IRL that had miscarriages between #1 and #2. I know people who had m/c before #1. My MIL had miscarriage after LO #2.

@littlek: same, MIL had m/c between #2 and #3, one grandma won't talk, my other grandma (now passed away) had 4, with at least 1 m/c at one point, and still born #5 (long time ago, medicine is better now). My mom's only m/c was before#1 and so was mine but we aren't TTC for #2 yet.

Honestly, I think it just comes down to the fact that miscarriages are common, and many women will have one at some point during conceiving years whether she is aware or not. Not to some pattern of it being before LO #1 or after #1

My mom had a m/c between my brother and I. I don't know all the details, but it seems she was working with a hazardous chemical at the time. She and another lady in her lab lost babies around the same time. So there was a "reason".

I had my mc between 2 and 3!

I read that first pregnancies often end in Cp/Mc because the body is unaccustomed to having the kind of activity. My sis, on the other hand, had two M/Cs between LO #1 and #2. She went on to get pregnant her very first cycle after #2 and has #3. After a year of NTNP, she is 18 weeks along with #4. It's crazy how much everything can vary!

statistically speaking, it's so common that i expect to go through it at least one more time before we're done completing our family. There's just so many things that can go wrong on the biological level. Women who manage to have children without experiencing at least one loss are on the rare side, for sure.

I did and I know a few other people who did, as well. But, I also know people who have had multiple pregnancies with no miscarriages - or, it is possible that they just never told me that they had one. I think they are way more common than people think because a lot of people keep them a secret.

@septca: I had a vanishing twin while pregnant with LO #1 and just had a miscarriage in March.

I know a couple of people who did, one about two years after having her first child and the other one experienced one four years after.

We had two miscarriages between DD and #2 due in June 2014. The first m/c was a blighted ovum [DD was 13 months] and second was a CP at 7 weeks [DD was 18 months].

my sister had an MC between her LOs 1 and 2. it is possible other people i know have as well, but i just don't know.

I don't know a ton of people IRL that are actively having children (I know more teenage moms than normal, I feel!), but I think close to 100% of them have had a miscarriage, either before #1, between #1 and #2, or even between #2 and #3. It's amazing how more open people are becoming about it. I'm fairly open with my miscarriages with friends, so then it allows them to open up too.
Such an awful thing to have to experience, regardless of timing

My stepmom had a miscarriage between my sister and brother. My MIL and grandmother also had losses (both after their second), but they were stillbirths, and I'm not sure of the cause of MIL's. Grandmother was placental abruption, which incidentally almost killed me when I was born.

Most people I know had one before #1, myself included. But then again, it's just so common that it's hard to tell.
@MamaMoose: I know what you mean. It took us 13 months (m/c after month 3) to get pregnant with LO and that's one reason we will be TTC when he turns one. It's almost like I expect to have another m/c
. I really hope I'm proven wrong though!

My mom miscarried multiple times, including an ectopic pregnancy, between me and my brother.

Most people I know had mc before their first, including myself. I have one cousin who had a mc between her two children. So far, my current pregnancy is going well, and I had high hopes that this one wouldn't miscarry like a pp said, I feel like I paid my dues!

I had a missed m/c at 12 weeks after a uneventful pregnancy with #1. A friend at work also had a loss between 1 and 2. We are still trying again for #2 so we will see...

I had an uneventful 1st pregnancy followed by a blighted ovum m/c for the second.

My mom had three kids without miscarriage but my stepmom had 5 I think and my stepsister and friend both had one between babies 1 and 2. Being that I'm 5 weeks pregnant with #2 I'm so worried this could happen to me. Praying it doesn't.

I've had 2 prior and now having my 2nd after LO. My SIL also had a MC after she had two kids when they were trying for #3.

I had a MC after my first, and am currently pregnant. They think there was a twin that has already MC, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for the one still in there. I've found it to be very common (after having mine).

We had two miscarriages after conceiving DD1 while NTNP - one a blighted ovum ending in a d&c and the second a chemical, both within 6 months of each other. Then the first normal cycle after the chemical we conceived DD2. It's horrible that miscarriages are such an often occurrence.
