DH and I put $5k in a dependent care FSA for 2015 and didn't file. The deadline was 3/31. Is there anything we can do at this point besides kiss our money goodbye?

unfortunately not - funds not claimed are forfeited. (IRS rule we were told - we filed on the last day last year - yikes)

Oh gosh...I hope so. Ours "ends" 3/31 but we have a period until July to file. Are you sure about the filing date?

@Corduroy: By file, do you mean turn in claims and get reimbursement? I believe that you are past that date, but perhaps, they will give you an exception.
I turn in daycare receipts throughout the year and get reimbursements throughout the year. Is that an option for 2016 for you (if that applies going forward)?

a glimmer of hope. DH is BEGGING.@NorthStar: Yes. DH likes to do it at the end of the year since we don't get monthly receipts. He/we learned our lesson. We've already spent >$5k in daycare costs in 2016 so DH will for sure be submitting all the paperwork for 2016 this month.

There's likely not much hope. The computer systems probably won't let the company process the claim. My first job out of college was processing FSA claims and there was literally nothing we could do if someone missed their filing deadline.
