Both of our parents live close by so we had all the help we needed so long as we asked.

Nope. My mom and dad came for 2 weeks when my son was 5 weeks old, that's the closest we got.

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I love having guests and would LOVE having the postpartum help. I think it would be especially great when you already have one LO and thus, need extra help to focus on the baby. First time around, I had my mom with me for two weeks, husband for 3 days. Next time, I'm asking my mom to come for like, a month, now that she's retired and can easily take the time.

Yes, my MIL will come down for a few days or a week and my mom will come for 2 weeks, 2 weeks after my due date. I think my dad will join the second week of that.

It'll be a lot but the help will be necessary.

My mom came the day I went into labour (Sunday) and stayed until Friday. DH was off work until the Monday. Then it was all me! Ah! Only tough part was I was in a lot of pain. I'll need more help for # 2 one day though. Can't quite imagine a newborn and a toddler!
