Olive is an excellent napper and goes into her crib awake. We used to be able to put her in her crib awake at bedtime before we went to the Philippines. After we came back and she had cold after cold, and rejected the bottle, I'm the only one who can get her down at night with nursing.
But how do I ever leave her with someone else? If she's with me, she's going to want to nurse, so will I have to put her down at night until I wean?
What do you do?

LO had bottles when she was younger but she hasn't for the better part of a year at this point. She will drink out of cups and sometimes sippy cups though. I'll nurse her sometime in the evening but my husband is usually the one to put her to sleep. It's the routine we set up so shes used to it and fine with it. She doesn't love cows milk but if someone else is watching her I tell them to warm it with a bit of sugar and if I'm not around she'll usually drink it from a cup.

I've been putting him down for the last 16 months and change...no advice just empathy! If I go out it has to be after his bedtime.

I have lots of empathy for you. I want through the same thing with LO until we tried weaning him after his first birthday. It's exhausting being the only one that can put them down.

Pretty much no. (6 months old)
We try to get DH to do it sometimes when I go to yoga but when I come home LO has been crying his head off and is either still awake or sleeping with shudder-breaths.
Now, this is something we are actively working on. Tonight we just tried this new thing called use the tv to get LO into the mood for sleep and it worked....could just carry him to the crib drowsy and he didn't make a peep. If this is successful, in theory, anyone could put him to sleep if they know how to find the little kids channel on tv. (fingers crossed, and yes, we decided we are okay with tv for this purpose.....tv is not on any other time of day for LO)
I've also taught LO to drink from a cup. We've been practicing with water and tomorrow I will try some pumped milk. This won't be a way to get him to sleep, but will be a way to get his nutritional needs met if need be.

My DD will take a bottle but that's not the issue for us. The problem is that she likes to nurse to sleep (for her bedtime routine) so nobody can put her down but me! So the last few nights, I had my mom put her down. She was crying and screaming but she eventually went to sleep because she was dead tired. I guess it's a form of sleep training.

DS is 20 months and we are starting to work on DH putting him down. I've put him to bed every night and I've never left him for more than a few hours in the daytime.
We've just started this routine: DS is sleepy and asks me for milk. DH takes him upstairs and gets him ready for bed if he isn't already. They play/read a little and then DH turns out the lights and rocks him. DS cries. Once the cry is wailing and he's really calling out for me, then I go and nurse. Hoping it will eventually lead to him sleeping on his own!

Oh! and the cup is good or try the sippy or straw cups. DS took the straw, but never the bottle.

LO does take a bottle (when I'm not home with her) but I'm in charge of bedtime because I do breastfeed her to sleep. If she wakes up again DH will rock or sing her back to sleep but if she's really cranky it's Mommy to the rescue with the booby.
