@LindsayInNY: No. Not exactly sure what it is, just know that it was suggested to turn off to save battery.

@kjpugs: @runsyellowlites: my brain just exploded. i subscribe to "inbox zero", so i would probably die if i ever saw those numbers!
grapefruit / 4862 posts
@birdofafeather: I know right! The email I use MUST be at 0 for me, but the other one is mostly offers I may or may not ever use and it's just too much work to go through. SO glad it's not on every page to look at anymore!

@LindsayInNY: basically clearing out your inbox (i don't do it every time) so that you either reply, archive or delete to achieve no messages in your email. i do it for work to make sure i reply to whatever i'm supposed to and avoid things getting lost in the shuffle.
here's an article about it: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/attain-inbox-zero-free-yoursel-125191

@birdofafeather: @kjpugs: Oh man, I don't know how you two do it! I'm afraid if I archive something, I'll forget and never see it again. My work email is THE WORST!

@LindsayInNY: i sort by folders within my server, so it's all still searchable and if i access my gmail from the web or my computer or my iphone, it's all within those folders, just not in my inbox.
basically, if it's in my inbox, that means i still need to do something about it, either reply or add it to an event or look at the sale, etc. when i was starting over, i picked a date maybe 30 days prior and archived EVERYTHING into one big folder. then i did 30 days of sorting, etc and went from there.
i attached a screenshot of my folders. (edited out my email!)

@birdofafeather: I just DLed the gmail app so I might be able to start doing this on my phone when I'm wasting time on the train...

It eats my battery (I close all my apps & have had to recharge 2x already!). I can't stand it.
I use the apple mail app for my business mail & have the gmail app set up for my personal. I've noticed a glitch in the apple app... It tells me I have more unread messages than I actually do, and sometimes it displays the same email 2-3x in the screen when really, that person has only emailed me once. Twice today I deleted what I thought was a duplicate message... And then I realized it was a glitch! I turned my phone off and back on and so far so good.. But it's annoying when I'm getting important work emails and need it to be updated!
I dislike the brightness. I feel like I'm on a fisher price toy phone.
Hate safari. Considering crome from above suggestions!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I feel like my battery is drained too. Just switched to chrome today and while I'm liking it better than the new safari, I want my old safari back!

@MamaJ: my husbands battery is being drained too.
Were looking at replacement batteries on amazon. Our contract with Verizon is up soon and were considering our option for new providers/phones.

@MamaJ: @Mrs. Jump Rope: Did you turn off the "Background App Refresh"? I heard that was the culprit for draining the battery... I turned mine off immediately after updates & haven't noticed any difference in my battery lasting...
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@runsyellowlites: yes we both did!
Since my last reply, my phone has drained 8%! I wasn't even on my phoneuntil my email went did bc of your reply.
Hate!!!!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Wow!! That's crazy! We're y'all already having battery issues? Even if you were that's insane!! *gasp*
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@runsyellowlites: I'm down another 1% since my last reply!
My phone is two years old & has had battery issues since the last update. My husband has a replacement phone so his issue is new with this latest iOS update.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yes, the battery drain started happening with the last update too! all my IT/techy friends immediately noticed and complained about it. i updated to iOS7 hoping they fixed it, but obviously not... grrr!

@runsyellowlites: I was seeing some slow battery yesterday with ios 7 on my iphone 4 but on the 5s today it's much better. @Mrs. High Heels:

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Check blue tooth. When I updated my bluetooth auto turned on and the battery was disappearing. I saw the icon at the top but it was light gray so I assumed it was off. Once I turned it off it's been fine.

I had severe battery drain within the first few hours if DLing ios7 on my iPhone 5. Severe, especially because my phone underwent water damage and was near death last month! So immediately after getting the new OS, it would die randomly, even while recharging. But then just after a few hours, it was fine the rest of the day! I ended up turning off Background App Refresh too, to help.

Yay I finally downloaded it!
I love that I can swipe anywhere to unlock the phone! (unless this was already a feature I didn't realize?) And I love how quick the camera takes photos. Oh and I like how the photos are arranged under the day they were taken.
Least favorite is the way the messaging looks.

After having it for almost a week I really like it. Favorite part is the easy access to the calculator, alarm and turning off Bluetooth, Wifi (battery suckers when you don't need them!). I also love the new way to close apps, so much easier.
Least favorite is probably the "scroll" menu. When you used to enter in a date and the giant white dial would turn up? Loved it! I HATE the new one, but it's a minor things so not a huge deal...
Also, for all you Safari users...Chrome is the way to go! Switch and you'll never regret it
@MrsTiz My DH thinks it's pretty girly, too!
@MrsKoala: Nope can't delete the Passbook app (or any other Apple-y ones like Newstand etc.). Drives me nuts too, but I created a folder called "Rarely Used" and dump them in there.

Also this is a pretty good article for helping with battery life!

My husband downloaded it but after seeing his I won't download it! It looks cartoonish - like a kids game. I am not a fan.

@fussygal: I was so glad to FINALLY be able to move Newsstand into a folder! lol
Oh and the no limitation on how many apps in one folder feature!

@mrskc: YAY! The longer I have it the more I like it & strangely it's the only update I've liked from the get go!

@fussygal: I HATE that I can't delete it! I just moved it to utilities on the second page where I will never see it but I like the idea of the Rarely Used app folder. I'll have to reconsider my organization.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@runsyellowlites: @MrsKoala: my husband said there is a way to delete it but it's a several step process. Like put in a folder, move to another folder, erase that folder, etc.

@T.H.O.U.: It can stay in my Apple slices folder where I never go anyways. lol

I LOVE how it looks now - funny because I thought things before looked 'cartoonish' with the sort of raised/bubble/shaded icons. Everything is so clean and light.
My favorite things are the time-stamping of each individual text and organizing (labeling at all) the date that photos were taken. I am totally a lazy mama when it comes to LO's baby book and I often will go back to a photo to remember when, exactly that last tooth popped through, or when she rolled, etc. So this helps to have a date associated with a photo. I was about to download an app that would do this for me but now I don't have to!
