Random question! I’ve spent the past 4 months of my maternity leave about 6 hours from home so DH wouldn’t have to commute this semester. We’re supposed to be moving back first thing Thursday morning and of course a huge snow storm is about to hit. Our original plan was to secure the crib and mattress to the top of our SUV. We have a roof rack and figured we could either do plastic moving wrap or one of those bags. Now I’m worried the crib and mattress are going to get wet and damaged in heavy snow. They aren’t hugely valuable (an ikea gulliver crib and maybe a $130 mattress) but it would be a bummer. However, trying to fit them in the car will be pretty stressful, and I don’t know how everything would fit (we could probably make it work but wouldn’t be able to sit next to LO in the back).

I have a bjorn travel crib DS sleeps well in, so we could just use that for 7 weeks until DH comes back up here. But we’re in the middle of sleep training so I’m hesitant to change things up. Also, Dh would need to take my car back for a week to move it down later meaning I’d eventually need to deal with the hassle of not having a car for 4 days (not insurmountable but annoying).

What should I do? Anyone ever dealt with moving something on top of car in snow or rain?
