I get pushing boundaries and feeling the need to re-define yourself . . . but the only appropriate setting for that performance was (1) a private club in the *champagne* room, or (2) at the annual porn star awards (AVN awards I think?) . . .

I think Madonna was probably offended!

I'd say her "shorts" were a liiitttle too tight, no?

@MrsTiz: how did she get those off ??

  6. MrsTiz

@grizz: I know, and she doesn't have a weird butt normally, but I feel bad for her seeing as how that picture is evverryywheere now! Poor girl

@Leialou: I would imagine with a pair of scissors? lol!

  7. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@MrsTiz: Giving MC the benefit of the doubt . . . I see the tragedy in that picture as not showing off her pert little backside in a more flattering way . . . I don't mean this in a pervy way, but if she could just reign it in a liiiiitle more, it would make a HUGE difference between edgy and skeevy.

She's gone the way of Britney and Lindsay.

@MrsTiz: her shorts were too tight and her but to flat and flabby.

If you're going to dress like a hot mess at least make sure body is on point. A great fitting outfit makes all the difference.

Robin Thicke also should not get a pass just because he's wasn't showing skin. He okayed this in rehearsal!

@MsLipGloss: yeah, I like the video for the song, but the love performance was a complete over the top no-no.

  10. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Say whaaaaaa? He okayed it in rehearsal?! That's just . . . seriously?! When did awards show start becoming NC-17 . . . naw, make that NC-21?! Too far!

Did you catch Rihanna's face? LOL ..."so this is what we're doing on TV now? hmm"

I'm just so over the in-your-face-over-sexualized EVERYTHING. I mean, I love me some sex appeal, but this is just too much. All the time! It started several years ago with nip slips and panty-less crotch shots and has just snowballed from there.

  13. mrbee

@MsLipGloss: MTV is pretty good at over-sexualizing everything!

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Snooki looked classier

  15. Colee

It seems like Miley is putting a lot of effort into being overtly sexual and shocking, and less effort into her music. "We Can't Stop" is kind of a catchy song, but I think her voice was weak, especially during the Robin Thicke duet.

@mrbee: To loosely quote Jack Black in School of Rock, Rock and Roll (and a lot of early Rap) used to be about *stickin in to the man* . . . I don't know where the hell it went so wrong/awry.

@MsLipGloss: Imma let you finish but MTV used to have some of the best videos of all time.

Dunno where it all went so wrong either...

@mrsjyw: haha ditto. I said to DH that they put it on fairly early in the show because us old people who cared about it had to get up early and go to work the next morning.

    @mrbee: Hahaha!

Seriously though, Lady Gaga's butt put Miley's to shame up on that stage.

Turned it off during MC's performance and started watching my episode of Breaking Bad. Far better TV experience on my Sunday night.

I don't know, maybe I'm a softie but I just feel kind of bad for Miley. I think she's trying to figure herself out. I mean, girl is 20 years old, thank God I didn't have cameras on me 24/7 at that age! Plus I don't think she's had good discipline at home. She's been supporting that family's lifestyle since she was a kid. I guess I just find it ironic that so many people were up in arms about Blurred Lines being sexist, and then the Internet explodes with people calling MC a "slut."

  23. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

@MrsSCB: I don't think she's a slut by any stretch of the imagination! Besides her misguided fashion and recent hair choices, I think she's a nice young lady! I just wish she had another inch (or two) of fabric and that she didn't do the fully bent over azz-to-crotch grind scene.

I am appalled that Robin Thicke okayed it in rehearsal . . .

  24. Mrs. Lemon-Lime

    wonderful pea / 17279 posts

@MrsSCB: I wouldn't go as far as calling her a slut. She is in a monogamous relationship and I think she comes from a good family. To me, she is not one of the "lost" stars. I haven't heard rumors of her partying like Lohan or Lovato or running through guys like Taylor Swift. In one of her songs she references Molly (drug), but I don't think she is an actual or at least not a frequent user. She's young and having fun. I think everything she does is deliberate. She needs someone-agent or manager or tv producer- to tell her it's too much.

@grizz: Hahaha, that is great, I love the reaction! Especially his son, his face is definitely saying WTF.

  26. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: exactly, she needs more adult supervision That's the problem with a lot of these young stars -- they basically become cash cows for everyone around them and no one ever wants to tell them "no."

  27. Boheme

    papaya / 10473 posts

@MsLipGloss: If I was Robin Thicke's wife I'd be ticked. I love her! Backup dancers? Fine. But there's no way I'd be ok with my husband doing THAT.

  30. MsLipGloss

    GOLD / pineapple / 12662 posts

    @grizz: I would have expected a grown man to *just say no* . . . !

  31. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: She definitely does drugs, she's basically admitted to it in interviews. One of her quotes about the 'dancing with Molly lyric' was, "You can google me and you know what the f*** I'm up to, you know what the lyric is saying." Ecstasy is a pretty serious drug, more so than the pot she has admitted to (and been filmed) smoking. And there's also a lyric about doing a line in the bathroom...which most people think seems to be a reference to cocaine and she hasn't denied that either.

And all of the Taylor hate I see online about how she goes through guys kind of baffles me...she's 23 years old and has dated 6 guys in the last 5 years (Joe Jonas, Taylor Lautner, Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer, Connor Kennedy, and Harry Styles). If dating 6 different guys between the ages of 18 and 23 is worse than whatever the hell Miley was doing up on that stage...I don't even know. Because it's not!

  33. Mrs. Lemon-Lime

    wonderful pea / 17279 posts

@wonderstruck: hmm I see the Molly quote a little different, like she's dismissive of the drug rumors because she is so open about her life that anyone paying close attention to her would know those are just song lyrics.

ETA: I don't know all things Taylor Swift, so I googled her boyfriend count and Billboard came up with ten.

  35. wonderstruck

    pomegranate / 3791 posts

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Several of those were just rumors because they had mutual friends and ended up at dinner together or whatever. But clearly I care too much considering that I do not actually know her, lol. But I guess we just read the song lyrics and quotes differently - it seems pretty clear to me that she's on something. And if she's not...well, then I think it's just kind of sad that she's willing to go to those kinds of lengths for attention.

  36. MrsTiz

    cantaloupe / 6800 posts

    @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Marijuana:
Miley says she rather smoke marijuana than consume alcohol to avoid any unpleasant aftereffects ''When I smoke, I don't get that sick feeling I get when I drink, or that anger rising up. There's a reason Bob Marley was like some kind of Rasta Mother Teresa.'', she explains.

    Extasy:
"I don't think people have a hard time understanding that I've grown up. You can Google me and you know what I'm up to -- you know what that lyric is saying."

    Xanex:
She "accidentally" Tweeted a screenshot of a text to a friend about taking a xanax.
    http://gossipgirl.alloyentertainment.com/miley-cyrus-accidentally-tweets-about-drug-use-726131/

It's sad to me seeing as how she was a Disney star, and even though she doesn't want to be a role model, she is..one look at any of her social media accounts and that's obvious..there are tons of young girls fangirling so hard over everything she does..unfortunately, that's getting high and twerking.

  37. Colee

    cherry / 153 posts

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I agree! She's young and having fun, but her actions are very deliberate. I think she is trying way too hard and her whole look/behavior is very contrived.

As far as the drugs, she's really no different than many kids her age. If she wasn't famous and was just a normal 20 year old going to college, she would probably be experimenting with drugs, partying, and wearing revealing clothing as well. It doesn't mean she's the next Lindsay Lohan or needs to go to rehab (hopefully it will never get to that point for her).
