@MrsTiz: Oh. Gah. Hopefully she will come out the other end of the experimentation tunnel with minimal residual damage.

Honestly, I think she did all of this for publicity. And it seems to be working because it's a big news story today.

I can't even...
Let's just say I felt violated after watching. Totally disturbing/disgusting to watch.

@MrsTiz: so she is a recreational drug user although marijuana isn't the worse thing...Lindsay told Oprah her issue is with alcohol and that's legal in all 50 states!
Beetlejuice = hilarious!

I think it's also pretty interesting to note that people are so upset about Miley's outfit (I couldn't care less about what she wore and it really wasn't all that scandalous), her sexual antics (in my opinion gross, but not something that's never been seen before by an entertainer, and what about Robin Thicke being a willing participant?), commenting on her body (of course, women's bodies in this society are seemingly always public property), slut-shaming (oh hello there, rape culture we're steeped in), yet few noticed her blatant racism. I literally couldn't believe it when she slapped her backup dancer on the butt, and using black women as props and appropriating bits and pieces of a culture she hasn't grown up in and can't begin to fully understand, is just not OK.

My reaction was summed up well by the quote below. Now, I do think it was just horrible, but I'm a little sad that she's taking the brunt of the criticism.
Dear Society,
If you think a woman in a tan vinyl bra and underwear, grabbing her crotch and grinding up on a dance partner is raunchy, trashy, and offensive but you don’t think her dance partner is raunchy, trashy, or offensive as he sings a song about “blurred” lines of consent and propagating rape culture, then you may want to reevaluate your acceptance of double standards and your belief in stereotypes about how men vs. women “should” and are “allowed” to behave.

Blurred Lines is incredibly catchy -- and incredibly disturbing to me.

K I haven't read all of this thread and didn't get a chance to comment on the other one that I did read but wanted to share this http://www.upworthy.com/a-comedians-take-on-the-miley-cyrus-debacle-completely-changed-what-i-thought-of-it?c=ufb1
I finally actually watched the performance and.. Was not shocked. I can't believe it's gotten this much attention and agree with those concerned about her use of Black women as props, blurred lines lyrics, and slut shaming. You also couldn't pay me to wear my hair like that.
