I have decided I want light music playing when I'm in labor, island sounds , ect. What did you have playing or once it happened did you decide you needed silence?

I needed silence. I even had the hubs agree not to make small talk with me. When I'm sick or hurt, I need silence to focus.

I did!!!
I made a playlist on my iPod... I am a Christian so I did have quite a bit of worship/Christian music like Phil Wickham and Hillsong.
But I also had some instrumental- Phil Keaggy was the most relaxing in my opinion.

It was so crazy we forgot to bring in our hospital bags, camera, or even move the car from the emergency zone (where is was sitting unlocked). Music was the last thing we were thinking about.

@Coco Bee: Good one with Hillsong - That would have been really soothing and inspiring! Maybe with #2!

Silence. I like music during some things, like when I cook/bake. But I knew labor and delivery would be better in silence for me.

I didn't bring music with me but was offered the radio. I didn't care either way so they put on my station which is the top 40. I enjoyed having music, though it was not a necessity.

@Rubies: It was perfect for my labor. I had a tumultuous and rough labor and it was so great to have that in the background as a reminder that I wasn't alone and I could do this!!

We had our iPhones so the option was there but we didn't in the end.

If we had remembered to bring it inside, I probably wouldn't have paid much attention to it anyway. Labor was too fast and painful for me to care. I'd have it ready just in case though, you never know what you are going to get.

We didn't use music, even though my husband made us a playlist. When the time came, it was really hectic and the room was kind of loud. I doubt I would have even heard it.

I had my ipod but didn't even use it. I think I would have if I hadn't ended up with the interventions that I did, but who knows. There was music playing during my csection but I can't for the life of me remember what it was.

I made a playlist. I quickly forgot about it. I wanted absolute silence. I didn't even want anyone telling me what a good job I was doing (LIARS!!)

Love the mix of answers! I'll bring my iPhone and I have started 2 play list, one with just instruments, and the other with relaxing songs and if we use it great, if not not a big deal!

there's no way I could've had relaxing music - I made a playlist of Janes Addiction and Iggy Pop, L7,.. my workout music. but when it came down to it, I didn't listen to it at all.
The Wizard of Oz was on the TV playing on a station that was showing it 24 hours. Which is funny - I've had this Wizard of Oz thing my whole life, even wore ruby slippers under my wedding dress.

I really wanted quiet. At one point, the doula put on some soothing music, like what you hear when you get a massage, and I made my husband tell her to turn it off.
