so i am so excited to say my baby boy is here! he is offically 11 days old and i am jut havving time now to write his birth story! Having a newborn is beyond exhausting but SOOOO amazing. so i was induced at 39 weeks 2 days due to being high risk with treatment for a blood clotting disorder. i went into the hospital and 8pm they started me on cervadil to soften my cervix.... lasted 6 hours without pain meds then asked for them so that i could get some sleep. woke up from 3 hours of heavenly sleep to horrible contractions and i was only at 2 cm dialated. dR Decided to do a folley baloon to help me dialate, omg idd that hurt getting inserted without pain meds (they have long worn off by this point!) they expected it to take 12 hours to get me dialated to 5, little did i know 2 hours later when i went to pee, the baloon flew out! i literally thought i did something wrong and tht they would have to insert it agian but they told me that was good and meant i dilated to 5! wahooo. lasted a couple hours with painful contractions from the pitosin they started aftre the balloon. before i started to ask for the epidural..... but with my blood clottign disorder, they had to be very careful and teh anestilogist was very hesistant about giving it to me, as the nurse told me the one on call that day was vbery conservative but she provmised me that if i coulndt get me the epidural she would give me the strongest pain meds she could give. hense i had to wait about 4 hours before they finnally apporved it.
after the epidural it was smooth sailing, i couldnt feel any pain, it was amazing, i highly recommend it. About 9 pm sunday night i started to spike a fever, and babys heart rate was spiking up to the 190's. i was TERRIFIED. i started paniking to my husband, i was so afriad somehting was going to happen to him, its been a long terrifying pregancy and then to see something go wrong during labor was abosloutely terrifying. they gave me tylenol and switched my antibiotic but we were still not responding that great to it., by then though it was time to push since i was at 10.
started pushing and we soon learned baby boy's head was turned almost breach. Dr gave me 3 options, turn his head manually, use forceps or do a c section. Both me nad the dr agreed hat we would like to have him naturally and taht the safest option was actaully the forceps. He tried the forceps and was able to turn his head a little and then tried to manually turn it. at this point its been an hour and half of pushing and it was confirmed baby was also to big for my pelvis and the dr at this point felt it was time for a emergency csection for his safetyand mine due to all the issues. Man, do they get things rolling fast when they call for a csection in less then 5 minutes we were in the OR with about 15 nurses nad drs along iwth NICU nurses. They started the procedure and i willl never forget when they puulled him out and i heardhim scream. relief, my sweet baby made it into this world healthy. they pulled the curtain down and i layed eyes on him, oh my i cant tell you how beautiful and amzing that was. i had high anxiety during this pregancy due to a prior miscarriage and the sudden death of my mom during my pregancy, slong with discovering ia genetic blood clotting disorder at 15 weeks that demanded immediate treatment for me and the baby, so to have a healthy baby in my arms is just the most amazing feelign thing that i never thought i would expierence.
overall it was a LONG (28 hours of labor!) comlicating birth but i would do it again in a heartbeat. heres my favorite little guy: we named him Pierson. he weighed in at 8 pounds 6 ounces nad was 20 1/2 inches long. he is truly hte love of my life.
