i heard from other people that they loved gas drops for their baby, but we tried both gas drops and gripe water and i don't think there was an appreciable difference. i kept giving them to him anyway just in case that things could be worse (for crying out loud), but they certainly didn't eliminate the gas. they work for some folks, just not us--frustratingly, time was the only thing that helped for us.

We used neither. I just made sure to burp her midway and after and when she slept, I made sure it was slightly elevated. Sitting on my knee while I held up her little head with my hand under her chin while I patted her back worked best for us. She gave nice big burps this way.

A combination of infant gas drops (bought mine at giant eagle, they are in the medicine section NOT the baby section), bicycling her legs & letting her sleep elevated in the rock n play. Chloe was very gassy, too!!
Good luck!

Love the gas drops! I also bought gripe water but the drops have been so great we haven't even tried them yet!

Gas drops did nothing, but she seemed to like the taste of it better than the gripe water. The gripe water really settled her stomach down though, so we stuck with that.

C gets a tiny bottle (1.5 oz) with one teaspoon of gripe water from a Dr Browns preemie size bottle before bed. I nurse him first. His gas was waking him up! This seems to work really well for giving him a comfortable 4-5 hour stretch of sleep at night!

Gas drops didn't work, never tried gripe water. Gas drops in our case actually irritated LO's system and resulted in blood in his stool
We decided after that not to put anything other than breastmilk into his system.
Lot's and lot's and lot's of burping (in all different positions) and patience is what worked for us.

Neither worked great, but we did think baby probiotics helped a little. One of ours would wake up screaming with gas pain and I would have to do a bunch of massaging and leg exercises to get him to be able to relax again. Poor guy. Baby probiotics helped, and gripe water was "ehh" for the gas, but worked for other things. We could see absolutely no change with the gas drops. Thankfully, he grew out of it after a few weeks.
