LO just started to like baked potato today. Hooray! She used to eat everything as a baby but then went through a very picky phase so now she has to 'learn' to eat a lot of foods again.

We are in the stage, she ate EVERYTHING, but at 18 months is so picky and just really wants nothing I feel!
She did however eat 1/2 a sweet potato today! That made me very very happy!

@FaithFertility: Ooh sweet potato is so good for us!I gotta try that next.

@808love: I literally gave her the 1/2 skin on and a fork....she did great!

Celery! He hates lettuce so for some reason I think I assumed he wouldn't like celery, but he took a stick off the counter today and gobbled it up, while saying "mmmmm."

@BadgerMom: That's awesome! Once I wrapped cheese in lettuce and LO ate it. She likes cheese but not lettuce.
LO and I just had a talk about dips like Nutella and such and she saw me dipping carrots in hummus so I brought out the dips for her to try. She dipped a Snapea crisp into some poppyseed dressing and said not bad. She reluctantly tried hummus again and said yuck. Ah well, here's to keep on trying and never give up!

@BadgerMom: oh right, mine hated lettuce too until I showed how it tasted with ranch. Haha. Then he was like, yum!

LO is 22 months so not a preschooler yet but definitely in a very picky phase. He actually at cucumber 2 nights ago. I tried several times before them but this week was the first time he ate so many pieces and asked for more.

Tomatoes! For a while if I'd give him one from my salad or whatever he'd take a bite, make a face and put it down.
But last week suddenly he couldn't get enough. I gave him all of them from my salad (I actually am not a fan of them on salads) and I got a little container of grape tomatoes for a little snack option.

Cherries - he saw me eating one and wanted to try. It's kind of a hassle though because he wants me to take the "rocks" out so making a bowl for him is a lot of work.

Salmon was the odd one for us. He never really turned his nose to it, but when I let him have a big piece and "cut" it with his fork, he shoveled it into his mouth. I think it also was an easy protein for him to chew.

@erinbaderin: We use a strawberry huller tool that gets the pits pretty easily.

She has tried ribs, brisket, fried clam strips, clam chowder, plums, fresh dates, and sugar snap peas in the past month and liked them all (also tried lobster but didn't like it).

Recent wins have been ribs and golden beets. She loves carrots, so when I told her (after she of course refused the beets) that beets are carrots are "cousins", she was willing to try and liked it!

@erinbaderin: I got a cherry and olive pitter from bed bath and beyond. It seemed silly and frivolous but man does it make pitting cherries easy! My husband doesn't like to deal with pits either so I do it for him too.

@catlady: Oh yeah, we did dates the other day too. I put them in a smoothie and I decided "why not" and cut one up for him. I think to a toddler it's like candy, they're so sweet!

Apricots. She saw me eating one and has been eating them whole since.
And for my son, he eats everything so nothing ever surprises us.

@Alba4: LO will eat the Costco ravioli with mozzarella and spinach in it. That is the only time she willingly eats spinach but I hope she is developing taste buds for it.

My preschooler recently became OBSESSED with tomato soup. Wants to eat it every day.
