Our part time (20 hour/week) nanny started work with us 3 weeks ago. The first week, she worked her 3 days, 20 hours. The second week, she couldn't work one of the days she committed to. I was understanding and paid her for 20 hours even though she worked 18.

I'm not thrilled with her performance, she has done some strange things, and I don't think she follows directions too well. The kids have been fed and safe, but I don't think she's a long term fit. She's experienced and had good references, but is just "out there."

Fast forward to week 3. She called out sick all week. Three days. I understand people get sick. But, the long and the short of it is she has worked 5 of the 9 days during her first 3 weeks of employment. I've decided not to continue with her as our nanny as I have another very good option that is a much better match for our family.

We have a contract and I'm the one who wrote our contract. Our contract says give 2 weeks notice. But she's only worked 2 weeks. I was going to pay her the 2 weeks.....but I think that might be crazy. I want to be respectful as she is a nice person and did not harm my kids or anything....but again, she's only been with us 3 weeks (and has only worked 2 of them).
