I have SO much green snot (sorry but it's true!) and I can't kick it even with the max dosage of mucinex and TONS of water and OJ. Anybody out there recommend the neti pot? Or other ways to get this crap out of my system? I've never used one and it honestly makes me nervous lol...
Or should I just ask for antibiotics?

I'm not a fan of it bc I'm always way too congested for it to work, but the hubby LOVES it!!! It flushes his sinuses out and he feels 10x better. Just make sure you tilt your head forward so you don't accidentally drink the saline solution!

I love it. Tried it for the first time when I got a cold while pregnant and couldn't take anything else. It worked really well, but did take a few tries (20-30 minutes apart) when I was really congested.

@babyjmama: I've had congestion and sinus issues since I got pregnant and I neti pot at least 2x a day when I'm sick.
It's the best thing ever.

I have terrible allergies and my allergist recommended the neti pot to help clear everything out. It really works!
I use it when I feel like I'm getting sick, or when my allergies are going nuts and I swear it keeps me breathing and not miserable!

I was terrified too - the worst feeling in the world is having water shoved up your nose! But I needed something fast so I tried it! I did it over the kitchen sink - weird feeling for sure but I got relief after 1 try! Amazing!

A nurse suggested it to me when I was sick and TTC. I was nervous because -- ew, gross!! - but it worked wonders and I was left asking myself why I didn't try it sooner!
It feels a little strange, but it's instant relief.

@babyjmama: YES! It is not that fun to use but it is the best thing! I have chronic sinusitis and it is the only thing that works. Much better than all that other crap.

I find it brings me a ton of relief. I use mine in the shower and just close my eyes so I can't see what comes out. If the actual neti pot seems too difficult to use, there are squeeze bottles with special nozzles on them that do the same thing. I find my bottle easier to use.

I love love love the neti pot! I fill mine before I get in the shower, and use it after I've been in there for a few minutes since the steam seems to help loosen everything. Plus I'm super uncoordinated and spill everywhere when I use the neti pot, so there's that too.

It significantly shortens the length of my colds, especially if I use it as soon as I feel something coming on.

Ok! I called the nurse at my dr's office and she said it sounds like what I have is more than the neti pot can do for me since I've been fighting it so long but she did say she will show me how it works!
The whole idea grosses/freaks me out...but dang if it makes me feel better?! I'm in!

Big fan of the neti pit here! It works wonders for colds, I don't usually take real cold medication. Occasionally my nose is so stuffy that nothing comes out, but I just try again later. It's also good to use once in awhile if your house is very dry. I had a few nosebleeds while pregnant, partly because of our dry apartment, and it helped with that too.
