I need new ideas of things to do with my six month old! I am on spring break this week and feel like I'm in a constant rut between the playmat and exersaucer with him when he is awake for his playtime. He is only six months...so maybe I am trying to "over-entertain" but I feel like we should be doing more!

my LO is 6 mo too! i lay him down on an empty floor with 1 or 2 toys around him (just slightly out of his reach) and encourage him to go get it by squirming his way there or rolling his way there. it's lots of fun AND they get tired out which results in good naps!

You have to keep an eye on him of course but they love batting them around when they are full and as the days go on it will deflate and get crunchy - even more fun!

my LO loves to sit up and feel like she's part of things. I'll sit her next to me on the couch and we'll play with some toys, or I'll sit her in her boppy (in case she gets tired and tips) in her pack and play with some toys.

there's also taking them out.... walks or small errands. I find that at 6 mos... they're fascinated by everything - even a simple trip to Trader Joes.

Reading books – read to him, letting him flip through pages/books.
Go for a walk, talk about the weather, animals you see, etc.
See if your local library has activities or story time for babies during the week.Art projects – washable markers (tape down paper), put paint and paper in a ziplock bag and let them crinkle/squish it up to make art. Sponge stamps with paint.
Go shopping. Childrens museum. Zoo. Any place that has a big fish tank!!!

@yoursilverlining the weather is nice today so i think we will go for a walk. it is a bummer there are no museums or anything around where we live...in the middle of nowhere!

At 6 months my baby loved to sit up supported, she liked when i would sing songs with actions like clapping

@matador84: i can't remember where you live but it's just getting nice in my area too. i'm SO glad - opens up so many more options! park, walking, etc. I would be totally stumped if it were November/December and LO was just starting to really enjoy doing things!
