How often do you buy yourself a new mattress? Or how often are you supposed to buy new ones?
Ours is maybe 5 or 6 years old and I think it's still fine, but I could definitely use some new pillows!

We bought a new mattress after 4.5 years, but that was only because we moved and our bedroom could now fit a king. Based on mattress warranties they should last at least a decade. I buy new pillows every couple of years. I keep the ones that are relatively in good shape and toss the really bad ones. Guests always rave about how comfy are pillows are.

We bought our first bed ever last year. Before that, we'd had hand me downs from family.
We get new pillows almost every year. I don't know what DH does to flatten them...

I've heard you should replace your mattress at least every ten years. Ours is almost 7 years old and I feel like it needs to be replaced already. I've been trying to talk DH into getting a new one...

Well mattress warranties range from 5-12 years. I've certainly used a couple that seemed to sag earlier than that.
We just got a king size Casper and are trying it out.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: What kind of pillows do you buy? Our mattress would probably feel better if we didn't have such horrible pillows.

We got ours three years ago. Our old mattress was super cheap and was very uncomfortable after five years of use.

@Boogs: I was gonna post the same question! I bought a bed when I was around 22 and I am 40 now - so 18 yrs ago - its our guest room bed and everyone who sleeps on it raves about it - it is very comfy!!! But I do think "eww gross its 18 yrs old" haha

Ours is from Ikea and it has a 25 year warranty. This is the first mattress I've bought as an adult though (I've lived in a lot of furnished apartments!), so I have no idea how long you keep them until they need to be replaced...I would think when it starts getting uncomfortable?

@Boogs: I have been really happy with Indulgence by Isotonic brand at Bed Bath and Beyond. Even though the pillows are synthetic down I still buy hypo allergenic pillowcase covers because I am allergic to dust. Indulgence is great for back/ stomach sleepers. We haven't started sleeping on our king yet, so I haven't tested out the new side sleeper pillows I bought with DH in mind. They are Stearns & Foster's Fairmont Enrapture also at BBB; in the store they passed my smoosh & bounce back test and felt nice & comfy.
finding new pillows!

Don't forget to flip your mattresses or rotate them at least so each person's weight gets equal opportunity on both sides of the bed. That can make a difference in longevity and preventing noticeable mattress sag.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Shoot I was just there today, but I'll look next time, thanks! And I usually rotate the mattress when I change the sheets.
