My LO is 5 weeks old. For the past 5 days, every time DH holds her, she immediately breaks out and her face gets red. It only happens when he holds her. I have narrowed it down to it only happens when he holds her and he is wearing a dry cleaned shirt. He dry cleans all of his shirts, except for his white t-shirts. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do about cleaning your dry clean only items? My husband is heart broken that he is making his baby girl break out and is afraid to hold her.

Can he change his shirt or put a blanket/burp cloth over his shirt before holding her? Or, can you request that your dry cleaner use organic cleaning methods only? I know some dry cleaners can/will do this.

My hubby used to have all of his shirts dry cleaned, because he likes them pressed and starched. He started just having them laundered and pressed and requested starch only on the collar and sleeves. May help, if his shirts don't need to be dry cleaned, but he just prefers it.

Thanks ladies! Both good suggestions. @junebugmama: My hubby actually just prefers to have them dry cleaned for the same reasons as your hubby. Will see if this is a good option!

@hilsy85: Just checked into this, and the other dry cleaner in our neighborhood is all organic. So, I now have 2 good options to present hubby with tonight. For now, he does just hold her without his shirt on which makes her very happy.
