My 4 week old has been up for the past 8 hours and I can't get him to take a nap. He is just super wide awake and looking around at everything. He fusses for about 2 minutes then just sits there and stares at me. This is so weird, he usually nurses then naps for 2 hours after. Could this be a growth spurt? I'm just loving on him as much as possible but he still won't get sleepy. I have a feeling I'm in for a very fussy night....

You may want to move bedtime up if your LO doesn't nap.

@littlek: I'm going to try. I just put him in his crib and he is stomping his legs like crazy as if he's fighting sleep (or practicing for the marching band) Come on baby, go.to.sleep!

Man, my LO did this. I never figured it out, so I don't have any advice. Luckily, it never messed up her nighttime sleep.

Have you tried letting him nap on you? If LO is having a hard time napping, I've swaddled her and let her sleep on my chest.

Have you tried baby wearing? Or taking him out for a walk?

@hilsy85: I'm waiting for it to cool down a bit but then I'll take him for a walk. It's about 85 and very humid today and he gets sooooo sweaty. Hoping that works!

My LO refused to nap alllll day yesterday (she's 7 weeks). It was tough but the good news is she slept from 7pm to 6:30am with just one short nursing session at 12.

Mine also fights sleep... the swing always eventually works on her.

@MamaMoose: Oh wow that would be so nice if he sleeps that long tonight! I just got back from a walk outside which did not put him to sleep, then I walked in circles with him in the stroller around my downstairs. He's half sleeping half fussing right now.

@oahujeni: I think it is a growth spurt! I posted a week ago about the same thing happening to B - He was up 8 hours straight! That was at 4 weeks. He's 5 weeks now, and I am happy to say the 8 hour awake periods only lasted 2 days.

@oahujeni: I had the same thing happen with my baby around then and I freaked out! Cars eat and a drive was our last resort. Hang in there!
He just really loves his momma!
