My lo is now 4 days old. She will not sleep anywhere (well maybe in our arms). This is strange for us because our first son was MSPI and screamed constantly so it didn't matter.
We have tried the rnp, swing, co sleeper but none last more than a few minutes day or night. Our son sleeps in our bed with us so she cannot cosleep.
Any ideas on how to get her to sleep somewhere at night?

Have you tried having her sleep on her side supported by receiving blankets? It's the only way W will sleep.

@As Time Goes By: yeah, that is how we have put her down per the midwives. Doesn't work for her.

4 days is still very, very early days. It may just be a wait-it-out situation where her days and nights are mixed up.

It's normal for newborns to want to be held 24 hrs a day, including for sleeping. For night have you tried a tight swaddle? Even if she does seem to like it at first it will prob make her feel more secure sleeping that way

I think I slept on the couch holding our son for the first week or so. Ha. It's normal - they're used to constantly being warm and held and cozy in the womb, so of course they won't like sleeping elsewhere. Hang in there!

Aww hang in there mama. do you haave a wrap or sling? you could you try getting baby to sleep in that and then putting her down. I always hafdto get baby to a deep sleep First.

I would recommend co sleeping with baby and having your husband cosleep with your son in a different room. Cosleeping on a couch or chair is not safe!

I think the first 2 weeks are a free for all! I would just try to do whatever it takes for now! We def let DD slept on us A TON!

I second swaddling or co-sleeping in a separate bed from your partner and son (but don't co-sleep AND swaddle and don't fall asleep with her on a chair/couch!)
I slept with DS in the crook of my arm in our bed for a few nights when he was tiny. His little eyes just closed immediately

@catomd00: @miramira: we would do this, but we just moved (and are ramping up to move again) so we only have our bed and miraculously (seriously it is surrounded by boxes) we have a mattress on the floor for Grammy who is helping us with baby. We brought out the big boy bed but he hasn't transitioned to it yet.
@lady grey: yeah she loves the swaddle. She just doesn't love not being in our arms.
We are going to try using a blow dryer to warm up the bed for her and see if that helps. Otherwise I think we are going to sleep with her on our chests (propped up).

Update! We had our big trip yesterday and she responded well to white noise. So last night I turned on the white noise and she slept! 1 hr, 2hr, and 3 hr. Mommy is a whole new mommy. We just have to repeat tonight.

Excellent! When DS was tiny, he used to pass out as soon as we put on white noise! Miracle stuff.
