I've seen this before. I think it really helps some of the worry when people feel pressured to supplement because baby "isn't getting enough". When they are born their stomach is the size of a marble... they don't need much to be full!!

I have seen this before too. So crazy how small it is. And even more how much it grows in a month!

All the nurses in L&D wore pins showing the size of a newborns stomach on their uniform when I had LO. It was helpful!

Ha, I actually feel like this can lead people into thinking they don't need to supplement when they actually do. My milk didn't come in for several days and the baby was inconsolable off an on. He'd exhaust himself and fall asleep for a few minutes and then wake up screaming and screaming until we supplemented after BFing with formula. The morning after we started he had crystallization in his diaper showing he was dehydrated (even though I was feeding him around the clock) so I think we caught it just in time.

@ShootingStar: my hospital/docs/nurses/LCs went by output (wet/poop diapers) more than anything else! sorry you had to go through that! how scary!

This is a great! I haven't seen anything explaining the growth of newborns stomachs so clearly.
