I have a friend named Olivia and we all call her Liv - always have. She uses her full name professionally but among her social circle, she is known as Liv.

We did not have any nicknames in mind before LO was born. Her name is Clara and we were fine not having a nickname but now that she's here we see how silly and funny she is so we call her lots if silly names...and now we have been shortening her name to Clary...just when we talk to her not when we refer to her or talk to others about her...we never would have thought we would call her that but it suits her little personality. I say go with calling her whatever feels natural - if Livvy sounds right or Ollie sounds right when you are talking to her then it's the right nickname

We call DD by her given name but I always thought as a nickname Evie would be cute (her name is Evelyn). There are a few people who call her that which doesn't bother me but DH corrects them.

My niece is Olivia but goes by Livvie.

Before lo was born everyone would ask if we'll call her rose or rosie. I always said we'd just wait to see what she looks like. She's a rosie. I usually call her rosie poo.

We were pretty adamant about not nick naming Cecilia right away to see what suited her personality best. We had lots of options from the dreaded cee cee to ceci (said sess-ee) to CJ to Ceil... But in the end she nicknamed herself Lala, which is just perfect for her toddler self... And which we never would have come up with ourselves. We just had to constantly redirect people not to use a nickname.
