I excitedly searched for mommy and me type classes in my area today - music, swimming, gymnastics, anything! They are all in the morning on weekdays Even baby story time at the library is early on days I work! So sad.

I know. Mine are like that too. If you have a local parenting magazine, they may have a calender of stuff on the weekends too.

I know!! It's like that in my area too. Apparently, mommies who have jobs don't need to do activities with their babies

Ugh, that sucks! The YMCA near me has parent-child swim classes on Sunday. Have you tried a Y? I don't think you have to be a member ( you just pay a little more). I hope you can find something.

So depressing! I already miss him so much while I'm at work, I thought a class on the weekends would be a fun way to bond.

Not even kindermusic? Have you looked into a "My Gym" "Gymboree" or "Little Gym" classes? I was surprised at how many classes they offer, at least around me, including weekends and evenings. I do My Gym

I feel your pain. You may have to look in neighboring towns. If its any consolation, it gets better as they get older. There are lots of after school activities for preschoolers and up, but then the issue gets to be finding time to get there after work!

I have the same problem I was so excited at the prospect of taking my LO to storytime at the library... and they are all during the work day. They said there was no demand for weekends or evenings, which I think is bs.

I know, it sucks. After a lot of looking I found some Gymboree classes at 545. I have to run out of the office and haul a$$ but we get there more often than not LOL

@MamaBehr: we only have little gym and the baby class is only offered once at 1030 am on a Wednesday

@Bookworm: I call bs! I meant to go to story time on my maternity leave and never made it, boooo

Its like this in my area, too. People keep asking me if I'm going to go to x,y,z when my baby is here and it makes me sad because, no, I have to work. Sob.

Same here! I was so excited because I found a working mom breastfeeding support group that met monthly on Saturdays ..... Then I went and was 1 of 2 moms! I was so bummed. DH says I should start my own storytime on weekends ... Haha

@rrachael: you should! Good idea DH! hmmmm ... Maybe I will think about that ....

@cmomma17: sorry to hear that! My LO is 6.5 months and I feel like I keep finding more and more options for mommy and me as he gets older....just bc I'm more in the loop I guess.
Consider starting a Meetup.com group, based on story time, stroller workouts, or something else. Check meetup.com too for existing groups for Saturday mornings.

Do you work close enough to home that a lunchtime class might be an option? Or is your job flexible enough that you could work through lunch/eat at your desk once a week, and take LO to a morning class? Just trying to think of some other options for you...

@PinkElephant: given her recent pumping posts, I think work flexibility is out the window

@cmomma17: I'm also in VA, but presumably a different part. My local Little Gym has Saturday classes! Maybe you could email them?

I'm sorry! I can't either even though I stay home, since I have two infants. Even the library requires 1:1 adult child ratio. I would love swim lessons for the kids, but for now we'll just have to throw them in the pool whenever we have access and extra hands

@PinkElephant @MrsJacks definitely beat me to it - no work flexibility for me! I also nurse on my lunch break currently. good ideas though!
@photojane, I'm hoping it might just be due to the summer schedule. I'll check back in the fall when LO is old enough to attend their classes
@merryc - aww that's lame! I wish you could take twins to all the classes.

I hate this too. I did a mom's meetup at a nearby cafe on the weekend. I was the only working mom among the group. I try to go to their weekend activities.
