As you may remember we are having our next door neighbor come watch our daughter while she's sleeping so we can go to the gym. However since she is only 12 she doesn't have a cell phone and we don't have a house line.
I guess we have a few options:
1) ask her to bring one of her parents but I don't know that they have a house line either
2) leave her one of our cells (I guess give her the pass code?)
3) leave nothing. She can run home next door if she needs something.

I would leave one of your cell phones, at least that is what we would do if we were (and probably will be), in that situation sometime. Just make sure there is nothing on there you don't want her to see 
ETA: or what about one of those cheap pre-pay phones and she can only turn it on in an emergency? Buy like 25 minutes for it or something.

@Bao: yes I mean our bank accounts have another password needed and the App Store requires passwords but things like photos and Facebook I am not sure I can lock down further

I would leave one of your cell phones and just turn off the 'screen lock' while she is there.

I'd leave a phone. If she needed to call 911, I wouldn't want her to waste time running next door.

You can keep your phone locked and it can still call 911 if that helps 
(but you probably want her to be able to call you).

I would get a home line. A cable phone is pretty cheap these days... and a home line is a must when you need to reach your babysitter.

@Thehistoryofus: I just looked some pre-paid phones up and they are pretty reasonable, and you can buy the minutes as you need them. Turn the phone on when she is there, but give her the rule it can only be used in an emergency, or for you to get a hold of her. Then turn it off once you get home. A basic talk only phone would be all you would need.

@mrbee: around here it actually is quite expensive to add a home line (limited providers). They market it as $10 with a package but there are a ton of taxes which make it over $25/month.
@Bao: that's true. I will look at Walmart to see if I could get a free phone and a few bucks in minutes.

I like the pay as you go phone idea. I was going to say to leave one of yours but that's an even better idea. I would definitely leave something though.
