I was having lunch with a friend on Friday. She has a 20 month old that recently had her verbal explosion. She is finding that her daughter is say no, no ,no a lot. Despite her & her DH working hard on not saying no but rather explaining.

I find myself saying no a lot but after that conversation I've been trying harder to explain why M should not be doing a, b, or c rather than just no!

What do you do?

If you didn't say "no" did you find that LO still said no a lot?

ETA: and also the reason this is important to me is I always thought I would parent by explaining rather than just saying "no". I kinda forgot about that when I started parenting! Trying to get back on track now.
