We usually dye eggs but also get plastic eggs and hide them. I can't remember if we even put anything in them in the past, maybe crackers if anything. I am looking for some ideas of what I could put in them that's not candy since they will get a little candy in their baskets. I was thinking maybe stickers, any other ideas?

I just posted in the other thread, but mine are all toddler geared: grapes, blueberries, cheerios, maybe goldfish crackers, trail mix, small toys like plastic dinosaurs or tiny bubbles, stickers, and some candy for the parents.

My mom has put yogurt melts or puffs in them when DS was younger. I was going to say stickers too. My MIL does coins for the older kids. DS just turned 3 and loves putting coins in his piggy bank so he will be more into that this year.

Bubbles, tattoos, play jewelery, socks (there are currently some cute bunny ones in Target's one spot), small plastic toys (animals, dinosaurs), silly putty/slime, Hot Wheels. Target's one spot and the dollar store are good places to look!

We are doing coins this year, DS looooves putting them into his piggy bank. Stickers are a great idea too! I probably won't do any loose food because then it'll just get messy, lol.
I'm a little wary of just filling them to fill them so we might leave some of them empty. I don't want to fill them with junk that's just going to annoy me and cause clutter later!

@petunia354: we never fill the eggs on the egg hunt at my parents house. The candy would melt cause they are hidden before church and found after church.

Even as we got older, money in the eggs was MAGIC. Sometimes my parents would hide "special" eggs with our names on them. They would have 5 or even 10 dollar bills in them. OMG. It was like heaven dropped money from the sky. lol

We're doing goldfish. LO loves them, but never gets them, so I bought a bag and will fill some eggs, then put the rest of the bag in his basket.

You can do puzzle pieces, duplo pieces, stuff like that, if you get the larger eggs.

My aunt always did money. Small coins in most but then 1 egg with each kids name that would have more, like $1 for little kids, $5 when they got older. I think now that her kids are grown ups and she hides a $50 egg for each kid.

DS has been collecting spare change in his piggy bank, so we'll probably stuff some coins in eggs! Also stickers, undies, small toy cars, etc.

@Bao: Even though the small plastic stuff ends up in the garbage, they are her favorite little treasures. I got a few plastic rings, little figurines, etc.

I'm tryingn to think of non plastic ideas. You could do pennies. Or little decor rocks and let your LO start a rock collection. Tattoos. Bandaids?

@T.H.O.U.: we have tons of little plastic animals, and character figures that LO loves but she has some things that are like pieces to other thibgs and those drive me crazy because half of the time I'm not even sure what it goes to lol

Growing up, our favorite eggs were always the ones with coins in them!

my mom would always to go the bank and get $2 bills and fill some of our eggs with them. I always thought it was neat since they are not in common circulation.

I'm going to do socks and maybe some reusable stickers. I like the duplos idea!
