I've Googled, looked at Target/Walmart/BBB, and can barely find Disney Princess bedding that's not super colorful/crazy. I LOVE the sets at PBK but buy two sets becomes more expensive than the bed itself...

I know which ones you're talking about and love them too! Are you looking at the full bedding set or sheets?
You may have thought about this, but something that might work is to get a part of the set that will be most visible/impactful and then supplement with more affordable options. Like, buy a pillowcase and duvet and then get non-PBK sheet sets in coordinating colors. Or even just pillowcases with solid sheets and a comforter. You'll get the pretty princess pattern in there but it won't be like $500.

@lindseykaye: Yeah, that's gonna be my last resort if I don't find anything else; just get the pillow case and duvet! But still! They better love princesses for the next 5+ years haha.

Non-Disney pretty princess sheet set. Not cheap, but less than PBK. Could combine with coordinating comforter/duvet.

Uggh they currently have 25% off, but buying 2x duvet and 2x pillow case (and not even the official sham, just the extra pillow case), comes out to just $175 which is how much their bunk bed is gonna cost which is just crazy to me....

@graceandjoy: what if you just got solid colored comforters (light pink or white or whatever) and princess pillow shams? Then the bedding could grow with them too? Is that enough to satisfy their “princess” requirement? Haha

Not to tempt you too much, but we have the PBK mermaid and ballerina sheets. They hands down hold up better than any other sheets I’ve ever had.
We rotate pretty much just between these two sets for my daughter’s bed. She has had them over a year and both sets legit look brand new!

It’s not Disney princess but the Company Store has some cute princess-y sets - not being the actual characters you might be able to use them for a few more years! The prices might be similar but I can usually find promo codes for them more easily.

@bees_knees: She suggested pillow/duvet in princess, and you are suggesting plain duvet, which actually would be cheaper! I AM really motivated to make this a great transition though, so I'm now closer to just biting the bullet....!

@HappyBaker: Thanks for thinking of me! Phew I went to check and I got a better deal when I ordered 1-2 weeks ago! So I'm glad I went for them. I just told them they will be using these until they are in middle school (or further, haha!)
