Anybody dealing with Norovirus in their area? Any LO's catch it? It's flying around my circle, and I'm trying desperately not to catch it. Soap and hot water!

I wish you luck! It takes exactly 7 viral particles to infect someone, which is why it spreads like wildfire. I'm sending very clean thoughts your way.

Only 7? I'm doomed! I had it once about 9 years ago, while visiting my BF (now DH) at school - it was the sickest I've ever been, but also totally mortifying to be stuck in his apartment! Although I think when I saw him take such good care of me it helped solidify the fact that he was a keeper

not sure if it was Norovirus since I vomited for 24 hours (no diarrhea but there really wasn't anything in my stomach to come out the other way) but I had a REALLY bad stomach bug for 24 hours... couldn't even keep water down! Thank God the next morning I started being able to keep liquids down. Gatorade is my savior. The strawberry flavor is great.

Resurrecting an old post in the hopes that someone can help me...
Fairly certain I have this. I woke up in the middle of the night nauseous and vomiting. I never ever vomit either. I've been on the toilet ever since, am definitely on the verge of being dehydrated and can't eat. I'd love this to be pregnancy signs but it's way too early. I have something work related to attend and then I'm heading home. Any suggestions other than pedialyte? How do I try and prevent DH from getting it?

@LindsayInNY: I am just recovering from this..the first 24 hrs was the worst, vomiting, diarrhea, not able to eat anything..: all I did was sleep! The 2nd day was a bit better, just tired , woozy and no appetite. Today is day 3 and I feel almost 100%. I tried to force myself to eat dry toast and drank lots of Gatorade. Also used hand sanitizer like it's my job. Hoping dh and LO stay clear. Feel better soon!!

Oops just saw the real reason for the post! @LindsayinNY: just drink LOTS of fluids. You can take an anti-emetic (I think that's what they're called, the anti-vomiting meds) and Immodium. Lots of gatorade and keep DH away from any of your vomit. Hugs!

@char54: @Ash: I'm eating saltines on the train right now. I figure Gatorade will look better at my deposition than pedialyte lol.
@JoJoGirl: We went to friends for the Super Bowl. Their seven month old son had it last Thursday or Friday, which I'm guessing is where I got it from. I read it's still contagious for 2-3 days after feeling better.

@LindsayInNY: Well, the vomit is contagious, and VERY contagious at that. So you may not have gotten it directly from the son unless he barfed on you, but more likely there was still some virus hanging around their house or in their bathroom. It's a really resilient little sucker.

@LindsayInNY: I'm so sorry. I had this twice my first year of grad school and wanted to die. I didn't keep up with fluids and got dehydrated. It's awful. I hope you get better very soon!

@LindsayInNY: I'm sorry, it is the WORST. I was so sick a few weeks ago, basically throwing up every 15 or 20 minutes for about 14 hours. It was awful, I couldn't even keep down ice. BUT the bright side is my DH a somehow did not get it. I don't know how we got so lucky -- I did make sure to wash my hands a lot, and I didn't kiss him on the lips or let him eat or drink after me for a few days after because I wasn't sure how long it could be contagious. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon!

@MrsSCB: I threw up pretty aggressively in the middle of the night. Just bathroom since but can't eat either. I'm so miserable.

@LindsayInNY: ugh, I'm sorry, it really is awful
just make sure to get some rest when you can and keep hydrating. If you feel ready to eat later, make sure it's bland -- rice, toast, bananas, etc. It feels like it will never end, but I promise it will stop eventually and you'll feel 100 percent better!

so sorry @lindsayinny
A friend of mine had it last week, I think she just tried consume to gatorade, ginger ale, toast, crackers as much as possible... Hope your depo is quick and painless!
