I feel like in the only one who doesn't dress their kids up for holidays (minus costumes on Halloween), but I mean dresses and things. I just don't get into it, I feel like it's a one time outfit and I can't justify the cost. Don't get me wrong, the outfits are adorable! Anyone else not dress up their LO for holidays?

@Bao: For DD unless I get a hand me down I don't either.
For DS I have never dressed him up -he is super picky when it comes to clothes so rather than fight him into wearing clothes that are uncomfortable on him he just wears his regular clothes -

Nope. Sometimes I will do a festive colour (Valentines = red t-shirt), if he has one. I can't justify the cost for a one time outfit.
I love looking at them though!!

Me! We don't do any special or themed outfits, like no Valentine's tees or fancy Christmas clothes. I feel like neither of them care and I don't want to waste money on an outfit that will only be worn on one occasion. But I'm open to getting them a special birthday outfit or something like that when they are older and express interest. But nothing like a St. Paddy's tee shirt, or something along those lines.
That said, I do think it's cute when kids wear outfits like that, but I personally don't want to buy themed stuff.

To a small extent? We have nice Easter and Christmas dinners with my ILs and we're expected to dress up a bit, but that doesn't necessarily mean a new outfit, but maybe a nice red sweater and pants E already has. I just bought G an Easter dress...but to be totally honest I'm just using Easter as an excuse to buy the dress
She can wear it again. But I don't buy themed clothes, like for Valentine's Day or St Patrick's or the Fourth of July.

Mostly I try to shop in her closet. We always get some impractical clothes as gifts so I pull those out for holidays (like the pink velvet dress and fancy coat she got for Christmas, I'll put on for Easter and probably never again).
But I admit I have done it occasionally. I bought a little red velvet dress that she wore twice for Christmas things knowing she will prob never wear it again and bought the baby a dress knowing she would were it exactly once. And C's first year she did have a few My First (holiday) outfits. But mostly I try to make it something she can wear again (like a shirt with a green shamrock she wore until she outgrew it, not just on st Patrick's day).

We don't. DS has "dress clothes" for church. But it's more like a buttoned shirt and nicer pants and his sneakers.
I got him a suit for a wedding, but I bought it second hand so it was only $10.

I have a boy, so he doesn't really have dress clothing. Maybe some nicer pants and a button down. If I had a girl, I'd totally buy those pretty dresses!

Not really! I might save a nice outfit to debut on a special day, but no holiday specific outfits.

I do but I don't spend more than $10 an outfit and the girls Easter dresses for example will then enter regular rotation as church wear. I'm not into boutique clothing and all the "fancy" stuff. It's too expensive, seems uncomfortable and it's just not my thing.
ETA: but here in the south I'm definitely in the minority. Especially because my girls rarely wear bows and when they do they are normal size

I don't think I've ever dressed my son up in a holiday outfit. I've done "colors" thought, like one year I dressed him in green pants for St. Patricks Day and red pants for Valentines Day. But never a full on outfit or even themed shirt.

I don't typically do anything themed. I'll dress him up on Christmas eve for church but that just means he's in real pants instead of sweats! I had gotten some hand me down Halloween stuff from my sister so he's worn that in the past. I just don't see any value in a holiday specific shirt that he can only wear for a couple of weeks around said holiday.

I don't make a huge effort to. I HAD to get DD a newborn Christmas outfit just b/c we had her in Dec! But after that, I'd try to color coordinate for V-day, July 4th, etc but the last Christmas she was just in red clothes she already has, and V-day it was sub zero here so forget dressing up! We didn't dress her up her Halloween either.

I don't either. Honestly, we just don't have anywhere to go. I don't think she is ready to sit through a church service yet, and we don't go to larger family dinners where she would need to dress up since both sides are not local. There's very little reason to buy more formal clothing.

It kind of depends. Usually I don't - I bought some Christmas-y shirts but he wore them throughout December, and I got him a shirt with a ghost on it for Halloween but still put that on him. For his first Easter he got "dressed up" but it was clothes we already owned, not anything themed. I always want to buy a shirt or something that he could wear on, for example, Valentines Day or Thanksgiving but then when it comes down to it I can never really justify it.

We don't dress up for holidays in my family, so while I may buy her something cute thinking "she can wear this on Easter", it would be regular clothing that she can get a lot of wear out of. It helps that most formal wear for little ones is not my taste (I won't even buy her a dress until she can stand).

Nope! I'll get festive t-shirts or PJs that they can wear the month(s) leading up to (and after) a holiday (mainly Halloween and Christmas), but actual dress-up clothes - NOPE! Xander wouldn't wear them anyway, so there's no point is wasting the money on something to be worn only one or two days that he's going to hate and I might not be able to get him to wear it anyway.

I don't generally make much of an effort for "hallmark" holidays - Halloween, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, etc. One year I did get him a halloween shirt at a consignment sale for $1 and had him wear that though
.For Christmas I bought 2 nice outfits, one being a sweater that's in regular rotation. The other outfit I used to for professional pics which was my parents' Christmas present, for Christmas dinner with my parents, and Christmas dinner with the in-laws. For Easter when we go to my in-laws I just put him in nicer pants and a button down, both of which he already owns.
We are expecting a girl now and I could see myself potentially buying a special Easter dress for her, just because they're so cute. And I've been dying for 2 years to have an excuse to buy girl clothes
. But with 2 kids I'll probably hit up the consignment sales and Facebook groups more to see if I can get those kinds of special outfits that kids wear once for a discount.

I like getting Christmas PJs! LO1 loves wearing them and gets sad when they're in the wash, so he certainly gets use out of them. Other holidays...unless they are hand me downs, we don't really go out of our way to make sure they have something.

I try to get things they can wear after the holiday is over. So a Christmas dress can be work all winter and an Easter dress is just a summery dress with a cardigan--nothing overtly eastery, like bunnies or something. We were gifted a lot of holidays onesies for LO1, so she wore those and LO2 wears them now as hand me downs.

For the first holiday, I do get a My First Whatever thing. But now that D is older, I buy stuff that he can wear again. Like for St. Patrick's Day, I want to get him one of these. He can wear either of those well beyond the holiday!

I tend to buy mostly inexpensive stuff I can re-use. But I totally understand why other people use the holiday as an excuse to buy a super cute new outfit! Which, rarely seem sot be a one-time use outfit, from what I see...

With boys we just have a selection of button down shirts, so it's easy to "dress up" whenever.

I like holiday themed shirts if I find them cheap. And my kids totally wear them out of season. My 3 year old refuses to give up his googly- eye turkey.
Also my 5 year old picked out a sweater vest that had penguins stacked up like a Christmas tree and I let him get it. He wore it twice, but it was $6 at consignment

Outside of the first year, I kinda refuse to waste money on clothes that are only applicable on a single holiday, i.e. "Happy _______ day!". I try to pick things out that can be worn through the season. Snowmen and penguins around Christmas, flowers or baby animals for Easter, hearts for Valentines day - that sort of thing. Sometimes, I'll grab something super on theme if it's cheap. And she'll wear Santa pajamas until she sizes out in April.

I use holidays as an excuse to buy cute fancier clothes, but it's always stuff that DS can wear for the rest of the season. I just bought him a new button down shirt 'for Easter' because they were on sale at Osh Kosh, but he's already worn it and will wear it through the summer. If we didn't have regular reasons to dress up a little (church, DH's work events, etc) I probably wouldn't buy as much.

My mom has bought her some things this first year (a my 1st Thanksgiving outfit, cute X-mas outfit, Easter romper, etc). We didn't do anything special for 4th of July, Valentines, etc though.

I don't but I also don't really care about fashion even for myself. I hate clothes shopping and am so so bad at creating outfits. If we inherit an outfit I'll put it on her. My mom balked at a pumpkin sleeper I put on my LO recently. And she pretty much gets dressed in tons of clothes that say "little sister" because we get clothes from tons of my cousins. As far as I'm concerned if it's clean and weather appropriate it's fine. So I'm going to be that lady with all her kids wearing crazy outfits all the time!

My girls wear festive dresses on Easter and on Christmas, and we buy Christmas pajamas. That's it!
The whole themed valentine's day or thanksgiving outfits are ridiculous to me because they're just a one time wear and not worth the cost! IMO.
She can wear it again.
