Mother of gingers here. Rashguards and gallons of sunblock all around.

DS and I have super fair skin and we live in FL, so we rashguard + sunscreen 90% of the time.
I always wore one growing up because it was a constant battle to keep me from burning. My sister just refused to go in the sun ever.

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. LO is older now, so I actually give the choice depending on what we are going.

I put both of my kids in them all the time. With two redheads, the more coverage, the better!

My son is fair skinned so yes, we use them. I rather that than a sunburn. As he gets older, I imagine he'll wear them less, unless he gets really into surfing or boogie boarding.

@yoursilverlining: rash guards got their names from surfers. When you surf or boogie board, your belly can break out in a rash during paddling. The rash guard protects your stomach from turning red and blochy or being very irritated.

We use them every time. With a wiggly toddler it's a PIA to get sunscreen on consistently and I want him to be protected.

I think we'll always use a rash guard for him, especially because he's fair and we have skin cancer on both sides of the family.
