We're exhausted, C and I. I think I've averaged about 2-3 hours of sleep each night this week, her cough is so bad. I have tried -
Zarbee's
Motrin
Eucalyptus essential oil in a rub and a salve for chest
Vic's Vapor Rub
What now?????? Is straight honey ok for a 19 month old?

I hear you, my LO has a cough/head cold and now I have it too. I just picked up antibiotics (Amoxyl) for her as she had terrible yellow phlegm. I feel like my face is stuffed with itchy wool.

Have you been using a humidifier? That seems to help us.
I was also going to recommend Chestal, it's a homeopathic cough medicine but it's from 2 up. It seems to work well on my son.

@FannyMae: I'm calling ped tomorrow, I honestly think she's coughed more than I've ever heard tonight.

@StbHisMrs: its nearly bed time here.... 3 nights in a row she has vomited from too much coughing. I have the humidifier pumping in the hallway with eucalyptus, and hoping the antibiotics are working their magic (its 2nd day today).

@StbHisMrs: our Dr always recommended mixing honey into water to drink once they turned one. I'm so sorry! It's so hard when you're doing everything you can and nothing helps!

I definitely recommend the doctor. Both my kids have had to have breathing treatments for bad colds with coughs and my eldest sometimes has to go on steroids to help open his airways. But he also has asthma, which doesn't help. Hope your little one feels better soon!

Making a nest on the bathroom floor and having her sleep in there with you, with the shower running? my mom use to do that if my cough was really bad when I was little.
I ended up with a chronic cough for months that ended up with inhaler treatment. I feel like inhalers for coughs are much more common now. Cough syrup never worked on me ever!

@FannyMae: I'm glad they're working! My lo's hour + long coughing fit finally stopped. We slept on the couch.

@StbHisMrs: she managed to sleep through the night, though I was up tossing and turning. I can hear the phlegm in her chest, poor thing can't get it out... except a minute ago she did a big chesty sneeze and it rocketed out her nostrils hahaha.
I'm downing paracetamol hoping it helps ease my symptoms. I wish I could take come cold & flu tabs, but 4 weeks pregnant means I've got to suffer through it

We just got back from the Doctors office, we have a double ear infection. She's doing better now that she's taken amoxicillin and more Advil.
