After your LO turned 1, if you were still nursing, did you pump if you missed a feed? I (think) we are down to morning and night nursing (and Motn) but what do I do if I miss bedtime for whatever reason? Pump? Just say oh well my supply doesn't matter?
What did you do?

@winniebee: I day weaned at 13 months and continued with am/pm and motn for the next month or two, then got rid of the night feed. I can't remember a time that I missed a whole feed but if she nursed really briefly I just didn't worry about pumping. I did not fully wean until 21 months so it worked! At this point I wouldn't worry about it if I were you!

With both my kids I quit the pump around a year. LO1 nursed until just after turning 2 and LO2 is still nursing at 19 months. We missed sessions here and there but only sometimes would it bother me. Once they were able to drink wcm they both preferred that to expressed breasted milk anyway.

@MamaCate: @skipra: I just know this week I have a Christmas party at bedtime and will miss it. He takes wcm fine and I have 6 or 7 bags frozen so it's more of a "will my body be able to handle it" thing!

@winniebee: If it's your first time skipping without pumping and will be in dressy clothes you might not want to risk it! It did take me a little while for me to adjust and even now, several months in I will still get engorged and leak a bit from time to time.

I want to quit the pump so bad! I feel like people at work think it's weird too (I know who cares). But I plan to keep nursing at bedtime and since I am at work during that time I am gonna keep pumping one time for comfort and to keep my supply up. I am usually pretty full by that point cause I usually nurse him right before I leave, which is earlier than his afternoon nap when I normally would nurse him.
Anyways I would guess you might be uncomfortable If you skip it, if you had a manual pump you could run in the restroom and pump a little for comfort?

I was fine skipping a session after we reached 12 months, and only pumped if I felt super full and it wasn't time for my son to eat. I hated pumping, so actually enjoyed our last month of nursing so much because I wasn't chained to that thing! It was liberating for me!

My body wouldn't have let me skip! I had to pump at least a little if I missed the bedtime or morning feed at that point.

@winniebee: then I would just play it by ear: have your pump stuff clean just in case and see how you feel after. If it is uncomfortable then just pump quick to resolve it.

I quit pumping if I missed a feed at one with no problems and we were nursing 3-5 times a day. LO was in all day daycare twice a week. Nurses until 21 months.

I wouldn't pump if I missed now, assuming you wouldn't be leaking all over wherever you are. I don't think milk supply adjusts THAT quickly that missing one session would make you low.

No, after 10.5m, I put away the pump and just nursed on demand until 2.5 years old. We used my freezer stash and WCM until 12m and then it was nursing and WCM until I weaned him at 2.5. My body adjusted after a couple days.
