DD is 5 months old and out of the blue is refusing to nurse. She screams and cries and won't latch, or if she does latch, its for like a second then she starts to cry. I don't want to be done nursing yet, but I don't know how to get her to latch and stay latched! Anyone else have this problem? What did you do? Was it the end of nursing for you?

Ours lasted about a week. Keep offering, don't force it, hang in there.

For us the first time it lasted for maybe 4 days. Then it just comes back and goes away on and off....
Hang in there - it is hard but hang in there ...... hugsssss

DS did this at about the same age - turned out he was getting some teeth. It lasted a few days and then he was back to the normal nursing routine, still going strong at 9 months.
One thing I read was that they are more likely to nurse when they're either sleepy or not super-hungry. So I would offer a small bottle of pumped milk in the evenings, and he'd drink the bottle and THEN nurse.

My LO went on strike at 10 weeks. Don't know how long it would have lasted because I gave up 2 weeks later. He was really determined to stick to the bottle.

Do you give her a bottle? If so, maybe change the nipple to a stage 1/newborn type or nipple. Or maybe the next size up. It takes more work to nurse than to drink out of a bottle. I think some babies like the faster flow. I did that with my first since he took more bottles than my second who only takes one 1 oz. bottle right before bedtime. I top him off with formula to get him a little bit fuller to sleep a little longer.
