Thursday morning, Logan (12m) nursed just fine. He went to daycare and then that evening he screamed when I tried to nurse him. Friday morning he nursed, but less than normal. Back to daycare and then wouldn't nurse that night. Refused to nurse all day yesterday, though not much crying - just turned his head away when I offered. Wouldn't nurse this morning either. Is this a nursing strike? Or is he just done? If it's a strike, any tips on encouraging him back, besides just continuing to offer?

Sorry maybe he is self weaning?!? G did that with her morning session, would just turn away!

I don't have any tips, but if you want to continue nursing I would keep offering and then pump if he refuses.

That is how Isaac acted when he self weaned. After a couple days of trying and his refusing I just stopped offering and he never asked again, although he was a bit older.
If you want to keep with the nursing I'd just keep offering and pumping if he refuses. I hope that this is just a short strike.
Is he sick or getting sick and maybe that is why he isn't interested?

12mo is early to self wean, so I'd think it's a strike. Try a quiet, dim room

LO self weaned 3 days before her first birthday just like that.

@Mrs.Someone: I think Iit's a strike too. Been trying a dim quiet room (that's how we normally nurse anyway), but so far no luck. Really hoping this strike doesn't last too long.. I don't think I can keep EPing...

@Adira: I know you're not ready, but if he's thinking of self-weaning, you may want to consider capitalizing on that... LO nursed until nearly 2.5 and several months after forcibly weaning, he still asks sometimes and gets mad if I say no. But, at the same time, I totally understand what you mean when you say you're not ready, I wasn't until ~2.5. Hang in there!

@Adira: Oh no, hope he'll be over it soon. But then maybe he is ready to wean? Xander weaned at 14.5 months right and Logan is 12.5 months? I have heard before that second (and later) siblings wean earlier because they see older siblings drinking from cups etc. and want to do that too.

@Pumuckl: Yeah, Xander weaned at 14.5 months, but I think part of the reason was because I was pregnant. I hadn't heard that later siblings wean earlier - interesting!
