What's it like outside? Here in southeastern Virginia we felt Sandy strongest this morning, and had tons of flooding. What's it like up there for y'all now? I hope everyone is staying safe!

We're in Brooklyn and pretty far inland, at that, so I don't think there is any. Any damage that happens to our building will probably be from the wind. I imagine we will see a lot of trees down tomorrow, too!

just really windy. we're in a no flood zone in central brooklyn so we'll be okay. my mom's house in queens is flooded & out of power. my job is probably partially flooded in tribeca.

I live in Long Island City and the flooding here is really bad. The park bymy house is completely underwater. The street is very heavily flooded and waters pouring into the building lobby. Luckily I'm on the 35th floor so flooding isn't a problem. The wind is crazy though, i can feel the whole building swaying and my bed is shaking.

@photojane: I was freaking out but I think the worst of it is past. We still have power which is kind of a small miracle. The lights are flickering but they haven't gone out yet.

We're in Brooklyn as well and it stopped raining. Just periods of strong wind. We still have power, and hopefully it stays on. It really doesn't seem that bad here for right now.

we're in brooklyn so we're pretty safe. but the power is out in almost all of lower manhattan below 39th street. if we still lived in the west village, our power would be out!
