why isn't she (me) pregnant?
-sperm not great
-"welcoming conditions" in the vaginal canal
- implantation issues
any other reasons that may be factors?
I am really trying to understand things so I can be more at peace with waiting/getting bfns/feeling confused.

Hormone issues? It amazed me when I had cycle monitoring at a fertility clinic how many hormones had to go up and down for ovulation *and* pregnancy to happen....Hope you get your BFP soon

i know you were working really hard to get in kickass shape, sometimes being a little too lean can make your body not wanna take on a pregnancy. do you think it's possible you were doing too well losing weight/working out?

I know progesterone has to kick in and the uterine lining has to be thick in order for implantation to occur, but what else?
My doctor keeps telling me, as soon as I O, I should have no problems getting pregnant. I've been ovulating 3 cycles in a row now;/

@mrs. bird: lol, first of all, I love you A LOT for even thinking I could be working out too hard. I am flattered hehe. And that was my first thought too. But no, I have stopped working out entirely this cycle because I didn't want to harm anything. That thought occurred to me, that maybe I was too active and it was harming me hormonally, but honestly, I was doing the same type of thing I was doing while 8 months pregnant. And since maybe mid sept., I have been doing next to nothing at all 
I am not trying to over-simplify things regarding TTC, by the way, I am just speaking in really simple terms because I am feeling simple right now and just looking for guidance into the right direction, no exact answers or concrete diagnosis. I just want somewhere to start my research

I guess most of the hormones relate to ovulation, and you're doing that, so probably progesterone, and yes, the lining should be thick enough. Thyroid issues? I know that can be a major barrier to getting/staying pregnant. Egg quality? I have PCOS so my situation is different to yours but I acupuncture is great for fertility (well I'm biased because it's how I conceived A). It can improve the quality of your eggs and blood flow to the uterus, if either of those are issues.

@TurtleDoves: there could be things wrong, but it could also be simple statistics. My RE told me that even with everything timed correctly, you still have just about 20% chance to conceive. So I hope that makes you feel a little better!

@travelgirl1: 1. I have pcos too! Isn't it fun? I am on Metformin and I have to use progesterone supplements throguh the 2st trimester.
How did you get into acupuncture? Did you doctor recommend it or do you just find a place that does it and walk in? I am sorry if that sounds dumb, but I am from an area where I don't think it is popular. So, I have no idea if I should try to find one on my own or if a doctor can refer me to a good one or something.

@TurtleDoves: you have one LO right? There are physical problems that could be causing it, tubal blockage, uterine scarring, that could have happened after birth. But @Happygal: is right, perfect timing is still only a 20% shot each month.

@MrsTal: omgosh, that's scary. I did have a M/C at 9w along. I never had an U/S after that or anything. My doctor just said "call me if the bleeding doesn't stop within a week and make sure you take a test and it says negative". The bleeding stopped within 5 days and my test said negative within 48h of the bleeding.

@TurtleDoves: I'm sorry, PCOS sucks. I'm guessing you have thin type too? I found my doctor very unhelpful the first time and I actually saw a different doctor last week and didn't find her very helpful either (I love her in general but I have yet to find a family doctor sympathetic/knowledgeable about fertility), she basically told me to stop breastfeeding and it will happen. Last time I interviewed a fertility acupuncturist for an article I was writing and then afterwards, contacted him asking if I could meet to discuss my own situation. At that time I wasn't ovulating at all, with acupuncture and herbs we changed all that and I got pregnant the first cycle we tried (with cycle monitoring). I plan to start acupuncture again ASAP. If you're looking for a good one in your area, maybe google to see which reviews pop up. If you want more info on acupuncture, feel free to wall me. I just hope it works for me again this time!

@TurtleDoves: it did make me feel a little better! I do think if you're starting to feel discouraged and anxious, it is worth it to go to the doctor. You can get checked out and then have a plan in place.

Honestly it could be anything or nothing, and its incredibly frustrating not knowing. For me, we're currently thinking that my digestive issues are making my body not conducive to pregnancy, but its all trial and error.

I've heard the 20% thing too. Have you watched "the great sperm race" on YouTube (from bbc)? It's pretty miraculous that anyone gets pregnant with all the obstacles in the way!

I had no problem getting pregnant with my first, and flash forward to my next and it was a whole different ballgame. I have no issues that would preclude a pregnancy, was ovulating, having sex at the right time, and nothing. My gynecologist told me that I needed to get to one year of documented "trying" before I would be deemed to have fertility issues. That was about 6 months in, and it sucked to hear. By 9 months I was stressed, frustrated and ready to give up. My doctor's advice was to go home, have some wine, and do the deed....basically I needed to relax. Right before the year mark, DH and I had a long heart-to-heart where we agreed that if it didn't happen we would be OK. I stopped stressing out about it and lo and behold, I got pregnant. I think that stress and the pressure of it all can play a huge role in not getting pregnant {assuming everything else checks out}. Just my two cents. Sorry for the novella.

I remember taking biology classes in college and thinking, "it seems like getting pregnant is next to impossible with the journey the sperm has to take just for a woman to get pregnant". So that's what I'm reminding myself.

Inflammation of the pelvic area, either due to infection or to your pelvis being out of alignment. My Chiro diagnosed me with a sacro-iliac sprain and after a couple of months of realignment and a visit to the acupuncturist (to release built up inflammation) I got my

Ugh, I have no good explanation but I was in the same boat when ttc after 2 mc's last year. All mc testing checked out fine, picture-perfect cycles & ovulation, and it still took 7 cycles to conceive. Blah... Waiting sucks! I cried every month Here's hoping it happens quickly for you!!

@Happygal: I was totally thinking about the 20(ish)% chance too!
@TurtleDoves: I got my BFP the month I stopped trying and just decided to take a month (or two) off (for the holidays). That was the month I got pregnant. I also relaxed my workouts and gained a few pounds (3-4), but more than anything, I think it was the decision to stop fixating on getting a BFP and to just chill out for a little bit!
ETA: Oh, and more wine. There was definitely more wine.

@turtledoves - we tried everything and anything for 2 years ttc. I've read everything and ask everyone what I should do differently, more of, or better to ttc. I found out I have 1 fallopian tube open, my ovarian reserve very low, my DH has low testosterone, and variscosle (sp?). We search high and low for answers and decided to go the route of IVF. So for about 2 months without the stress of ttc or figuring out what was wrong, we actually ended up getting pregnant on our own.
From my personal experience, I love getting information bc I am a control freak. I get stressed if I cannot understand why "things" don't go my way. I've been told by many people (fertile people) to not stress.... which is so frustrating to hear. But it literally is the best advice, at least coming from my 2 year journey ttc.

How long have you been trying? With LO1, we were NTNP and got pregnant very fast. With LO2, we were actively trying and it still took 5 months to get a BFP. Neither DH or I have any known fertility issues. I think sometimes it just happens when it's supposed too. Sending lots of good vibes your way!
